The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is offering an internship opportunity within its Environment & Social Risks and Impact (E&S) Program, based in Nairobi.
This internship provides hands-on experience in environmental and social risk management within the UN system. The E&S Program focuses on integrating environmental and social considerations into UNEP’s operations, ensuring that projects align with sustainable development goals and minimize adverse impacts.
Interns will assist in reviewing project proposals, conducting risk assessments, and developing mitigation strategies. They will also support the preparation of reports and contribute to the development of policies and guidelines related to environmental and social safeguards. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the implementation of environmental and social standards in international development projects.
Applicants should be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate or final-year undergraduate program in environmental studies, social sciences, international development, or related fields. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in English. Knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
The internship is unpaid, and interns are responsible for their travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses.
