About the Role
The HR Business Partner will serve as a key liaison between the People & Culture department and our frontline leaders at the medical centres. This strategic role involves guiding team leaders through HR best practices, driving talent and performance initiatives, and acting as a culture ambassador to ensure alignment with The Penda Way—our internal ethos focused on excellence, empathy, and empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Be a Trusted Advisor
- Partner with medical centre managers and leadership teams to solve people-related challenges.
- Serve as a coach to managers on leadership development, communication, and team management.
- Guide decision-making processes that align with both employee well-being and organizational goals.
2. Enable Talent & Performance
- Provide end-to-end support during performance review cycles.
- Equip managers with the tools and confidence to deliver constructive feedback and coaching.
- Drive a performance culture by facilitating growth-oriented development conversations.
3. Foster Culture & Engagement
- Actively promote and embed Penda’s core values within all medical centres.
- Respond empathetically and effectively to employee concerns and workplace issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve employee satisfaction and engagement.
4. Champion Change
- Lead and support the rollout of organizational changes including policy shifts, new structures, or evolving processes.
- Equip teams to navigate change with clarity, consistency, and emotional intelligence.
- Offer support through transitions, ensuring alignment with Penda’s mission and values.
5. Strengthen Systems
- Contribute to the implementation and enhancement of HR systems and processes.
- Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making by analyzing trends from engagement surveys and other HR metrics.
- Play an active role in HR policy formulation, refinement, and dissemination across medical centres.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with a blend of strategic HR expertise, strong people skills, and an unwavering passion for developing others. You’ll need to be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-led organization and can balance empathy with performance rigor.
Required Knowledge, Experience & Personal Attributes:
- 4–6 years’ experience in HR, with at least 2 years in a strategic HR Business Partner capacity.
- Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Performance management
- Employee relations
- Leadership coaching
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to translate people metrics into actionable strategies.
- A proactive, emotionally intelligent leader who communicates effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Professional registration with IHRM and a CHRP certification (or equivalent).
- A firm belief in the power of organizational culture, continuous improvement, and ethical leadership.
