1. Waitresses (6 Positions)

Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
Preferred Gender: Female candidates encouraged to apply
Location Advantage: Applicants residing in or around Westlands are highly encouraged

Job Description:

As a Waitress at SilverOak Café, you will be the face of our customer service. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring guests enjoy a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and guide them to their tables
  • Present menus, explain specials, and answer questions regarding food and beverages
  • Take accurate food and drink orders using POS systems
  • Serve food and beverages efficiently and professionally
  • Ensure the cleanliness and setup of dining areas
  • Manage bill payments and provide correct change
  • Handle customer complaints with empathy and professionalism
  • Collaborate with kitchen and bar staff for order accuracy and timely service

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a busy restaurant or café setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to multitask and handle pressure during peak hours
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Fluency in English and Swahili preferred
  • Candidates with prior training in hospitality or customer service are preferred

2. Bar Staff (Baristas) – 4 Positions

Experience Required: Minimum 3 years in beverage preparation (coffee, tea, juices)
Preferred Gender: Male and female candidates are welcome
Location Advantage: Westlands area residents are encouraged to apply

Job Description:

Our Baristas are key to the SilverOak Café experience, delivering beautifully crafted beverages with consistency and flair.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of hot and cold beverages including coffee, espresso, tea, and freshly pressed juices
  • Ensure presentation and taste meet SilverOak standards
  • Manage beverage inventory and restocking
  • Operate espresso machines and brewing equipment effectively
  • Engage customers, provide beverage recommendations, and answer queries
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in bar and beverage prep areas
  • Coordinate with kitchen and floor staff for timely delivery of drinks

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in beverage preparation, especially coffee and juice crafting
  • Sound knowledge of barista techniques, drink customization, and coffee brewing methods
  • Passion for hospitality and customer service
  • Basic math skills for handling orders and payment
  • Knowledge of food and beverage safety standards
  • Team player with strong work ethic

3. Chefs – 6 Positions

Experience Required: Minimum 4 years kitchen experience
Specialization: Must be skilled in preparing a range of international dishes
Preferred Gender: All candidates welcome
Location Advantage: Proximity to Westlands is a plus

Job Description:

As a Chef at SilverOak Café, you will play a pivotal role in menu execution, food preparation, and kitchen operations. We’re looking for creative culinary professionals with a strong grasp of international cuisine and high kitchen standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a diverse range of dishes to exacting standards
  • Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation
  • Monitor food stock levels and coordinate timely procurement
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in food preparation areas
  • Oversee kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to training
  • Collaborate on menu development, seasonal specials, and kitchen efficiency
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years working experience in a professional kitchen
  • Proven ability in preparing international cuisine
  • Culinary school certificate or professional cookery qualification is an added advantage
  • High standards of cleanliness and organization
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a team
  • Creativity and passion for food presentation and taste innovation

4. Stewards – 3 Positions

Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
Key Duties: Floor cleaning, utensils washing
Location Advantage: Westlands residents encouraged

Job Description:

Stewards form the backbone of our kitchen and cleanliness operations. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic and attention to hygiene.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely cleaning of all kitchen utensils, crockery, and cutlery
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, storage areas, and dishwashing stations
  • Assist chefs with basic preparation as required
  • Safely handle cleaning agents and equipment
  • Adhere to safety protocols and sanitation guidelines
  • Properly store clean utensils and ensure availability during service
  • Dispose of waste responsibly and maintain waste segregation

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a stewarding role
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning and dishwashing tasks for extended periods
  • Understanding of hygiene and food safety standards
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently
  • Dependability and punctuality

5. Hostesses – 3 Positions

Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in hospitality or customer care
Preferred Gender: Female candidates encouraged to apply
Location Advantage: Residents of Westlands are encouraged to apply

Job Description:

Hostesses are the welcoming face of SilverOak Café, responsible for creating a warm, friendly first impression for every guest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly and professionally
  • Manage reservations and walk-ins efficiently
  • Guide guests to their tables and ensure timely service
  • Coordinate with service staff to ensure a smooth flow of operations
  • Provide accurate wait times and manage seating charts
  • Answer queries regarding the café, menu, and services
  • Ensure the reception area is clean, welcoming, and organized

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a hospitality or front desk role
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Pleasant personality and customer-oriented attitude
  • Neat appearance and professional dress
  • Proficiency in basic reservation systems is a plus
  • Multitasking ability and organizational skills
  • Fluency in English and Swahili
