JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Undergraduate Programs
DEPARTMENT: Strathmore University Business School (SBS)
REPORTING TO: Director, Undergraduate Programs
Job Purpose
The Senior Manager, Undergraduate Programs is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational support to the Dean, faculty members, and students. This role encompasses academic program oversight, faculty coordination, administrative process management, and ensuring the delivery of an exceptional student experience in line with Strathmore University’s vision and mission.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Academic Program Management
- Interview prospective students and approve admissions to respective programs in line with set enrollment targets.
- Support the Academic Director in teaching allocations and ensure quality instruction through curriculum reviews, lecturer-student evaluations, and peer reviews.
- Coordinate compliance with university policies and academic regulations.
- Oversee field-based learning initiatives including work-based learning, service-learning programs, and Maisha.
- Accurately document minutes of departmental and academic meetings.
2. Mentoring and Student Support
- Offer academic advising services, including processing requests for special exams, academic leave, and program transfers.
- Drive initiatives under the strategic pillar of Transformative Student Experience.
- Plan and facilitate academic trips, both local and international, as well as student exchange programs.
- Monitor and evaluate student mentoring activities across the school.
3. Budget Management
- Prepare the school’s annual budget in accordance with the strategic work plan.
- Collaborate with the procurement department to source goods and services tailored to the needs of the school.
4. Risk Management
- Regularly review the school’s risk register and provide reports on risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the internal audit department.
5. Strategy Implementation and Quality Assurance
- Contribute to the realization of the university’s strategic goals by aiding the Dean in the preparation and implementation of the school’s strategic and quality improvement plans.
- Serve as the school’s quality representative, ensuring adherence to the University’s quality assurance standards in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Office.
6. Financial Responsibility
- Approve training budgets for staff development and capacity building within the school.
7. Operational Responsibility
- Oversee recruitment, performance appraisals, and professional development of academic and support staff.
- Handle communication and feedback with students and their parents, maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education Management, Business Administration/Management, or a related discipline.
- 7–9 years of overall experience, with at least 4–6 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong leadership acumen and strategic thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in administrative operations and resource management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability in student welfare, crisis response, and risk management.
- Strong financial oversight and decision-making capabilities.
