Job Opening: Consultant Neurologist

Job Description

The Consultant Neurologist will be tasked with delivering high-quality neurology services to both outpatients and inpatients. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the clinical team and will support the hospital’s mission of continuous improvement and education by participating in training, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties
    • Conduct and supervise neurology diagnostic procedures, including lumbar puncture and direct fundoscopy.
    • Perform and interpret nerve conduction studies (NCS) and needle electromyography (EMG).
    • Interpret evoked potentials and electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings, including prolonged video EEG monitoring.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting polysomnography results.
    • Provide preliminary interpretations of neuroimaging scans, especially for emergency neurological assessments.
  • Service Development
    • Lead efforts to enhance and expand Neurology services within the hospital and at affiliated outreach centers.
    • Collaborate with other departments to establish comprehensive care pathways for patients with neurological conditions.
  • Teaching and Mentorship
    • Actively engage in training and mentoring of junior doctors, medical officers, and clinical support staff.
    • Support the hospital’s internal capacity-building initiatives and continuing professional development programs.
  • Research and Collaboration
    • Participate in ongoing and future research projects related to neurology.
    • Foster clinical collaborations within the AKHS network and external partners to advance neurological care.

Candidate Requirements

  • A Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine from a recognized institution.
  • A Fellowship in Neurology with a special focus and interest in modern epilepsy management.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in neurology services.
  • Competency in clinical research and capacity to foster collaborative research initiatives.
  • A strong commitment to ethical practice, patient safety, and professional growth.
