Creative Mentor
Background
The County Creative Arts Residence & Empowerment (CO-CARE) program is a partnership between USIU-Africa, the Challenge Fund for Youth Employment (CFYE) and Across Solutions that combines technical and entrepreneurship concepts to empower youth to build a career in the creative sector. The program has a research and learning agenda, where key lessons are integrated in project delivery and policy strengthening.

The Position
We are looking for 40 visionary and proactive Creative Mentors in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi or Kiambu Counties who meet the following requirements:
- Have evidence of undertaking mentorship to youth in the creative sector
- Have proven capacity to provide space (for events, rehearsals, etc)
- Be willing to institutionalize the creative curriculum as part of capacity development.
- Proven experience working with the youth in the creative sector.
- Be actively involved in creative sector activities in Mombasa, Kisumu, Nairobi or Kiambu counties.
- Have excellent communication and networking skills.
- Be adaptable and flexible so as to meet the unique needs of the CO-CARE mentees.
- Holders of a diploma or higher will have an added advantage.
Responsibilities
The Creative mentor will be tasked with:
- Providing visionary and inspirationalw leadership, personalized guidance and support to the mentees as per the CO-CARE guide.
- Developing technical skills of the mentees and providing guidance and feedback for improvement.
- Identifying job and gig opportunities for the mentees to earn an income in collaboration with the creative marketer.
- Supporting the project with monthly monitoring and reporting as per the tools provided.
- In collaboration with the creative marketer and the mentees, organize one county-based mentorship and opportunity event.
Interested applicants should demonstrate the ability to work independently, be very proactive and resourceful and should be available between June 2025 and November 2025.
