- WASH Project Associate (Water Enterprise Development)
- WASH Project Associate (Technical)
These roles are part of our broader mission to improve access to safe water and sanitation while promoting sustainable, community-driven solutions. Both positions will be based in Kajiado County, where you will work closely with local stakeholders and project partners to implement and support effective WASH interventions.
1. WASH Project Associate (Water Enterprise Development)
Location: Kajiado, Kenya
Type: Full-time
As a WASH Project Associate focused on Water Enterprise Development, you will take the lead in supporting the development, establishment, and sustainability of water-based enterprises. Your goal will be to enhance community access to clean water while creating opportunities for local entrepreneurship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and support community-based water enterprise initiatives in the project area.
- Facilitate the development of sustainable business models for water enterprises.
- Work with community groups, water user associations, and small-scale entrepreneurs to build capacity in enterprise development, financial management, and governance.
- Provide technical support in developing business plans and strategies that ensure the long-term viability of water enterprises.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and impact of water enterprises, adjusting approaches where necessary.
- Coordinate with financial institutions and other stakeholders to connect communities with financing opportunities and advisory services.
- Lead the promotion of water-based livelihoods as part of the broader WASH strategy.
- Support training sessions and workshops to build the entrepreneurial and managerial capacity of community members.
- Prepare regular progress reports and case studies to document achievements, lessons learned, and best practices.
2. WASH Project Associate (Technical)
Location: Kajiado, Kenya
Type: Full-time
The Technical WASH Project Associate will be responsible for the design, implementation, and monitoring of WASH infrastructure projects. This role will focus on ensuring the technical soundness, quality, and sustainability of water supply and sanitation facilities within the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for new WASH infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical input during the planning, design, and construction phases of water and sanitation systems.
- Ensure all WASH infrastructure complies with relevant engineering standards, environmental requirements, and local regulations.
- Supervise contractors, monitor construction progress, and ensure adherence to quality benchmarks.
- Support community mobilization and participation in WASH projects, ensuring that infrastructure reflects local needs and preferences.
- Perform routine site inspections to monitor the operation and maintenance of completed WASH facilities.
- Liaise with local authorities, engineers, and WASH committees to strengthen institutional capacity for managing water systems.
- Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, including drawings, bills of quantities, and procurement specifications.
- Provide technical reports, recommendations, and documentation of project learnings.
