As part of its continued growth and commitment to excellence in financial management, CCGD is looking for a skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of Finance Officer. This position plays a critical role in ensuring transparent, accountable, and efficient financial operations across all organizational functions and donor-funded projects.


Position: Finance Officer

Job Description

The Finance Officer will be responsible for providing overall financial leadership within the organization, ensuring that all financial systems, processes, and reporting mechanisms meet both internal and external standards. The successful candidate will support and oversee financial planning, compliance, reporting, and control functions. Below is a breakdown of the key duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Policy Implementation and Oversight
    Oversee the implementation of existing financial policies and procedures and provide expert advice on necessary reviews and updates in alignment with evolving organizational needs and donor requirements.
  • Financial Reporting
    Supervise the timely and accurate input of data required for preparation of financial statements including monthly, quarterly, biannual, annual, and ad hoc reports.
  • General Ledger and Voucher Management
    Oversee the coding and posting of voucher entries into the general ledger system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Analysis
    Prepare and review monthly balance sheets and cash flow analyses by the designated deadlines to support informed decision-making.
  • Payroll and Tax Compliance
    Oversee the preparation of monthly payrolls while ensuring full compliance with all relevant tax regulations and remittance procedures.
  • Bank and Account Reconciliation
    Supervise regular reconciliation of bank accounts and manage creditor and debtor accounts, addressing and resolving any discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
  • Banking Operations
    Act as one of the organization’s authorized bank signatories and oversee all banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers.
  • Internal Control Systems
    Monitor the effectiveness of internal controls and proactively identify and address any weaknesses or gaps.
  • Grant Management and Donor Liaison
    Serve as the main point of contact for financial matters related to donor grants. This includes budget preparation, fund tracking, compliance, and reporting in line with donor expectations.
  • Team Collaboration
    Work closely with the Administration Support Officer and other teams to ensure effective resource utilization and budget adherence.
  • Financial Support to Programs
    Provide program teams with necessary financial reports to support donor communications and fundraising efforts.
  • Payroll Funding Management
    By the 15th of every month, obtain payroll data from the HR Officer, confirm the number of staff and total salary commitments, identify funding sources, and guide the accountant on debiting the appropriate accounts.
  • Other Duties
    Undertake any other financial management tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor or the organization’s leadership from time to time.

Preferred Competencies and Experience

The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Has experience in financial management or accounting, preferably within the NGO sector.
  • Demonstrates sound knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting, and grant compliance.
  • Understands financial systems and accounting software, including QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Is comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating across departments.
  • Has prior experience managing multi-donor funding structures and external/internal audits.
