As part of its commitment to nurturing the next generation of professionals in Kenya’s media and legal sectors, KBC is pleased to announce internship opportunities in two key departments — Legal and Television Services (Y254 TV Channel). The Corporation invites applications from enthusiastic, qualified, and motivated Kenyan youth ready to launch their careers through hands-on experience and mentorship within the industry.
This internship program is offered for a non-renewable period of twelve (12) months, providing selected candidates with a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and professional broadcast environment.
Available Internship Positions
1. Legal Department – (1 Position)
Role Overview:
As a Legal Intern, you will work under the guidance of KBC’s Legal Department professionals, assisting with research, documentation, drafting, and administrative legal tasks. This role offers a practical learning experience in corporate law, regulatory compliance, and media-related legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents and contracts
- Support in maintaining proper filing and documentation of legal records
- Participate in legal research and preparation of legal opinions
- Aid in the organization of case files, reports, and legal correspondence
- Perform other legal and administrative tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Law from a recognized institution
- Must be computer literate
- Strong skills in legal drafting, report writing, planning, and organization
2. Television Services Department (Y254 TV Channel) – (1 Position)
Role Overview:
The intern in the Television Services Department will be based at Y254, a youth-focused channel under KBC. This role is designed for creative individuals passionate about television production, journalism, and youth-centered content. Interns will gain experience in scripting, editing, content creation, production coordination, and storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support in writing, scripting, and producing TV content for Y254
- Assist in video editing and compiling engaging broadcast material
- Contribute to idea generation and creative brainstorming sessions
- Participate in studio and on-location production shoots
- Help in conducting interviews and compiling relevant stories
- Collaborate with producers, editors, and other crew members
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, or Television Production from a recognized institution
- Must be computer literate
- Demonstrated creativity, writing, editing, and analytical skills
General Internship Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for either internship position, applicants must also meet the following conditions:
- Must be Kenyan youth aged between 21 and 34 years
- Must have graduated from College or University not earlier than the year 2020
- Must attach the following documents:
- Copies of academic certificates and transcripts
- Updated curriculum vitae (CV)
- Copy of national identity card or valid passport
- Application letter clearly stating the department being applied for
Upon Selection – Required Documents
Upon successful selection and before onboarding, interns will be required to submit copies of the following:
- Valid Personal Accident Insurance Cover for the internship period
- Proof of Medical Insurance Cover (e.g., SHA or another reputable provider)
- PIN Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- NSSF Card
- Two recent passport-sized color photographs
- Bank account details
- Valid Certificate of Good Conduct
