The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is seeking to expand its team through the recruitment of dynamic, committed, and results-oriented individuals to support various technical, support, and casual roles within the Institute. These roles are offered on a short-term fixed contract basis or as casual engagements, designed to support the day-to-day functions and ongoing projects of the Institute.

1. Short-Term Fixed Contract Staff – Technical Departments

Fixed Term Contract staff in technical departments are engaged for a defined period of time to support the Institute’s research functions. These positions fall within the approved staff establishment and have budgetary support.

Job Description:

  • Support policy research and analysis activities.
  • Participate in the preparation of research papers and reports.
  • Assist in organizing and implementing workshops, stakeholder engagement forums, and dissemination activities.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Support the development of knowledge products including policy briefs, working papers, and technical reports.
  • Engage in literature reviews and contribute to technical publications.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree from a recognized institution in any of the following fields:
    • Economics or related Social Sciences
    • Curriculum Development
    • Gender Studies
    • Public Policy
    • Statistics
    • Monitoring and Evaluation
    • Criminology
    • Governance
    • Urban Planning
    • Agriculture
    • Political Science
    • Library and Information Science
    • Publishing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, and E-VIEWS.
  • For graphic design-related roles, demonstrated computer proficiency in desktop publishing software is required.

2. Short-Term Fixed Contract Staff – Support Departments and Divisions

These staff members provide support services that are crucial to the functioning of both research and non-research departments.

Job Description:

  • Provide administrative, clerical, and operational support to departments and divisions.
  • Assist with document handling, filing, and records management.
  • Offer support in financial management, supply chain operations, and human resource activities.
  • Help facilitate internal communication and ICT functions.
  • Support legal and compliance-related documentation and reporting.
  • Perform duties assigned by department heads based on operational needs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Diploma or a First Degree from a recognized institution in any of the following areas:
    • Finance/Accounting
    • Supply Chain Management

    • Business and Office Management
    • Secretarial Studies
    • CPA (K)
    • KNEC Craft Certificate in Secretarial Studies with:
      • Shorthand III (minimum 120 w.p.m.)
      • Typewriting III (50 w.p.m.)
      • Computerized Document Processing III
      • Business English III/Communication III
    • Any other relevant qualifications from a recognized institution
  • Fluency in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.

3. Research Assistants

Research Assistants play a vital role in supporting the core research work of the Institute. They work closely with lead researchers to execute policy research projects across a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Job Description:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of research projects.
  • Participate in data collection through surveys, interviews, and other tools.
  • Conduct desk research and literature reviews.
  • Help in processing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Support the writing of research reports, briefs, and articles.
  • Aid in stakeholder engagement and dissemination of research findings.
  • Provide logistical support in organizing fieldwork and workshops.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree from a recognized university in the following fields:

4. Casual Workers

KIPPRA is looking for casual workers to provide support to its operations on an as-needed basis. These are flexible positions suited to individuals looking for short-term, task-based engagements.

Job Description:

  • Assist with office cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and document handling.
  • Help with stock management, inventory tracking, and movement of office supplies.
  • Carry out general errands within the Institute’s premises.
  • Adhere to health and safety standards while performing assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed Form 4 (KCSE).
  • A college certificate in any field is an added advantage.
  • Must reside in Nairobi or its immediate surroundings.
  • Must be adaptable and willing to perform various tasks as required.
