Pharmaceutical Technologist – 6 Months Contract

Ref: TNH/HRD/CP/5/2025

Overall Purpose of the Job
The Pharmaceutical Technologist will provide essential support in dispensing drugs to patients and other hospital units. The role is critical in ensuring the hospital’s pharmaceutical services meet high-quality standards and patient safety requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Receive and verify written prescriptions from patients to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Respond to patients’ inquiries, questions, or requests in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Prepare and package chemotherapy medications and other medications requiring special handling in accordance with established safety measures.
  • Assist in filling, processing, and dispensing medications to patients while maintaining the hospital’s safety and quality standards.
  • Assist in maintaining drug inventory through effective inventory control practices.
  • Initiate the procurement process for medications based on inventory assessments and department needs.
  • Regularly check for expiration dates on all medications and ensure removal of expired stock.
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation and reports on all pharmaceutical transactions.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
