The Economic Advantages of Readers for Near Vision (EARN Trial) is a prospective, singlemasked, parallel- group, two-arm, individually randomized controlled trial whose primary aim is to determine whether providing near-vision glasses to people of working age with presbyopia leads to increased household consumption and/or vision-related quality of life. The study seeks to recruit suitable officers to fill the below listed vacant positions, which will be based in Kisii County
Duties and Responsibilities
i. Obtain informed consent from participants before they enter the study
ii. Administer the household survey questionnaire and ensure that data is recorded accurately and without bias
iii. Adhere to the study protocol, including maintaining ethical standards such as confidentiality, respect for participants, and adherence to regulatory guidelines
iv. Maintain open communication with participants to address any questions or concerns
v. Participate in daily debrief meetings with the supervisor
vi. Ensure the safety and responsible handling of all study tools and equipment provided
vii. Promptly communicate any challenges, irregularities, or issues encountered in the field to the research team
viii. Assist the research team in other project-related activities
Vacancy Requirements
i. A minimum of KCSE or an equivalent qualification
ii. Strong communication skills
iii. Ability to work independently
iv. Experience in collecting quantitative data
v. Knowledge of research ethics and good clinical practice
vi. Willingness to live in Kisii County and travel extensively within the area
Desirable qualities
i. Communication and reporting skills
ii. Problem-solving skills
iii. Community engagement and outreach activities
iv. Knowledge of Smartphone-based data collection applications will be an added advantage
Terms of employment: These are employments on contract, renewable subject to availability of funds and performance, with a probation period of the first three (3) months. Salary is as per the KEMRI scheme of service.
