Makueni County Public Service Board (CPSB) is a statutory body established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012. The Board’s primary role is to establish and maintain an efficient, effective, and professional public service in the County Government of Makueni. The Managing Director will oversee the implementation of policies, programs, and strategies related to sand conservation and utilization. Key responsibilities include:- Conserving and conducting periodic assessments of designated natural resource and environmental protection sites.
- Mitigating environmental risks associated with unregulated sand harvesting.
- Educating the public on environmental protection and proper natural resource utilization.
- Safeguarding the rights of all stakeholders and ensuring communities benefit from sand resource use.
- Coordinating sand management activities and integrating sand-related concerns into development policies and programs.
- Building partnerships and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Licensing and maintaining registers for individuals engaged in sand utilization.
- Mobilizing and monitoring financial and human resources for sand conservation.
- Providing technical assistance to community groups on sand conservation.
- Collaborating with security agencies and other stakeholders to enforce the Sand Conservation and Utilization Act.
- Performing any other lawful duties assigned by the Board.
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from recognized institutions.
- At least 15 years of relevant working experience, with a minimum of 7 years in senior management.
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme (minimum 6 weeks) is an added advantage.
- Membership in a relevant professional body.
- Experience in results-based project management, monitoring and evaluation, and budgeting.
- Background in community-based natural resource management.
- Demonstrated administrative capabilities in public or private sector programs.
- Proven experience in resource mobilization and an understanding of public sector operations.
- Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
- Chief Executive Officer – Makueni County Fruit Development and Marketing Authority (1 Post)
Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperative Development
Job Group: R | Salary Scale: Kshs. 124,630 – 172,350 p.m.
Terms of Service: 3-year renewable contract
Reporting to: Board of the Makueni County Fruit Development and Marketing Authority (MCFDMA)Duties and Responsibilities
The CEO will provide strategic leadership and administrative direction to MCFDMA and its subsidiary, the Makueni Fruit Processing Plant Ltd. Responsibilities include:- Serving as Secretary to the Board.Leading and overseeing all operational areas including production, quality control, warehousing, packaging, safety, and environment protection.Representing MCFDMA in public participation forums and meetings with stakeholders and development partners.Executing all roles and powers of the CEO as outlined in the MCFDMA Act.Developing sustainable fruit value chains in the county.Coordinating preparation of proposals, reports, and submissions for Board consideration.Acting as the principal spokesperson of the Authority.Implementing strategic initiatives aligned with the Authority’s vision and mission.Developing and executing business plans, operating budgets, and internal control systems.Ensuring quality improvement in services and products offered by the Authority.Meeting financial and operational goals.Overseeing the implementation of policies and programs.Performing any other functions as required by law or assigned by the Board.
- Kenyan citizenship.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Commerce, Business, Finance, Marketing, Agricultural Sciences, Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Strategic Management, or Project Planning.
- Strategic Leadership Development Programme certificate (minimum 6 weeks) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years working experience, with at least 5 years in the relevant field.
- Experience in food, beverage, or juice processing is an added advantage.
- Strong organizational, planning, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

- Computer literacy and proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Job Purpose:
The Market Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and efficient operations of designated market centers. The officers will oversee waste management, public sanitation, and ensure the smooth running of market activities in their assigned locations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage cleaning schedules and shifts in the assigned market.
- Coordinate refuse collection and recycling programs in partnership with the local community.
- Supervise the operation and cleanliness of public toilets within the market area.
- Implement and monitor waste disposal protocols.
- Ensure efficient dumpsite management within the market.
- Manage the process of exhausting liquid waste from premises within the markets.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
