1. Academy Fellows

Overview
The Academy Fellow plays a multifaceted role in the student residential programme, academic support, service learning, co-curricular activities, and mentorship. The role provides immersive professional development for recent graduates and young professionals aspiring to contribute meaningfully to education, youth development, and global citizenship.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Residential Parents, promoting community life and mentoring students in academic and personal development.
- Offer academic tutoring (approximately 10 hours weekly) in subjects of choice, with high need areas being Maths, Science, and English as an Additional Language.
- Develop and deliver a weekly Service-Learning Programme for Years 6–10 (approximately 10 hours weekly).
- Supervise dormitory students twice weekly and one weekend out of three, fostering strong interpersonal relationships.
- Participate in the co-curricular programme—coaching sports, offering music lessons, or leading clubs (e.g., MUN, debating, SAT prep, TEDx).
- Chaperone students on educational field trips and off-campus events.
2. P1 Teacher – IRE/Kiswahili
Location: Aga Khan Primary School, Mombasa

This position is based at the Aga Khan Primary School Mombasa (AKPSM), which offers the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) from Grade 1 to 6. The P1 Teacher for IRE/Kiswahili will be responsible for curriculum delivery and ensuring students’ overall development.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging lessons in IRE and Kiswahili in alignment with CBC.
- Collaboratively develop unit and lesson plans.
- Create teaching documents such as unit plans, records of work, and class analysis.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
- Implement interactive learning techniques such as storytelling and role-playing.
- Organize educational excursions.
- Support learners with behavioral and learning challenges.
- Maintain student records and provide feedback to parents.
- Foster positive classroom behavior and showcase students’ work.
3. College and Career Counsellor

The College and Career Counsellor will provide comprehensive college, career, and academic advising for IB Diploma students. The counsellor plays a pivotal role in guiding students’ post-secondary pathways and ensuring informed decision-making among students and families.

- Advise on IB subject selection, academic plans, and alignment with post-secondary goals.
- Guide students through global university applications, including essay preparation, interviews, and tests.
- Share information on scholarships, universities, and program options globally.
- Organize college fairs, university visits, and career events.
- Support extracurricular and internship opportunities.
- Offer individual and group social-emotional support.
- Refer students to external professionals where necessary.
- Build relationships with university representatives, teachers, and families.

4. School Counsellor

The School Counsellor will support the well-being and personal development of students, particularly residential students. The counsellor will help integrate social-emotional learning within the school community and ensure a culturally responsive, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement a school counselling programme aligned with ISCA and IB values.
- Provide one-on-one and group counselling addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Promote student resilience, belonging, and positive behavior aligned with the Learner Profile.
- Offer pastoral care to residential students, addressing challenges like homesickness and cultural transitions.
- Collaborate with residential staff and families for student welfare.
- Facilitate group workshops on life skills and well-being.
- Refer students to external mental health professionals when needed.
- Advocate for equity and inclusivity across the student body.
- Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records.
- Participate in school initiatives and professional development.
5. IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator
Location: Aga Khan Academy, Mombasa

The MYP Coordinator plays a strategic leadership role in overseeing the implementation and development of the IB MYP across the Academy. This individual ensures high standards of teaching and learning and supports both faculty and students in achieving educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead MYP staff through coaching, mentoring, and example.
- Oversee all aspects of the MYP, including the Personal Project and service programmes.
- Collaborate with department heads to improve teaching standards through observations and feedback.
- Efficiently manage MYP resources and contribute to budget planning.
- Coordinate orientation for new MYP students and Year 5–6 transitions.
- Lead MYP assemblies and contribute to school-wide academic committees.
- Build a strong academic team culture aligned with the Academy’s mission.
- Promote community engagement through authentic learning initiatives.
- Conduct professional development sessions for staff.
- Evaluate and refine the MYP to ensure continuous improvement.
