This full-time, fixed-term role falls under the Food & Beverage department and is stationed onsite in Kenya. Overall Scope of the Role

The Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for ensuring seamless food and beverage service in the designated outlet, aligning with Kempinski’s signature DNA values. This role requires a courteous, efficient, and professional approach to service that maximizes guest satisfaction and encourages upselling of the outlet’s products.

You will be reporting directly to the Camp Manager or Director of Culinary and will oversee Head Waiter/Waitress, Waiter/Waitress, and Host/Hostess roles within the restaurant.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the outlet’s service team to ensure a flawless guest experience.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of all services and products offered at the Camp.
  • Confidently explain menu offerings and promote upselling of food and beverage items.
  • Ensure operational supplies and equipment are well managed to reduce spoilage and wastage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service area at all times.
  • Implement and oversee opening and closing procedures of the outlet.
  • Handle guest inquiries professionally and promptly escalate complaints to management with necessary follow-up.
  • Ensure adherence to all fire, hygiene, health, and safety regulations as per hotel policy.
  • Build and maintain a strong team environment with effective communication and cooperation.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, departmental training sessions, and any hotel-wide learning initiatives.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Camp Manager or Department Head.
  • Lead internal team meetings and promote clear communication within the team.
  • Ensure service delivery aligns with the hotel’s high-quality standards.
  • Support the continuous improvement of food and beverage operations by contributing to new ideas and initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise Required

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a similar supervisory role within a luxury lodge or resort.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional team leadership and delegation capabilities.
  • Effective at working under pressure and resolving issues rationally and proactively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional, ethical, and discreet in all aspects of work.
  • High proficiency in computer and office equipment operation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications is an added advantage.
  • Previous experience in African luxury lodges or resort operations is highly desirable.
