About the Role
Reporting to the Lead – Culinary, the Head Steward will oversee the kitchen’s stewarding team, ensuring hygiene, cleanliness, and proper organization across all training kitchens and food processing areas.
Scope of the Role
- Lead and manage the BIHC Kitchen Steward team.
- Allocate tasks and manage scheduling.
- Enforce cleanliness and hygiene standards.
- Maintain operating equipment and kitchen organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the work of all stewards and ensure the sanitation of kitchen facilities.
- Maintain cleanliness in back-of-house areas as per cleaning schedules.
- Oversee the correct use of chemicals and detergents.
- Support chefs and kitchen staff in daily operations.
- Conduct regular stock-taking of kitchen equipment.
- Ensure timely availability of items needed for service.
- Reduce breakage of kitchenware and enforce loss prevention practices.
- Promote a safe and efficient work environment.
Required Skills and Personal Attributes
- Proven experience as a Head Steward or equivalent role.
- Ability to manage teams and work under pressure.
