Kirinyaga University (KyU) is a fully chartered public university in Kenya, established under the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012. Located approximately 115 kilometers from Nairobi in the serene environment of Kirinyaga County, the University is recognized for its rapid growth, vibrant academic culture, and commitment to quality education. 1. Senior Corporate Communications Officer I – Grade 11

Job Purpose
The Senior Corporate Communications Officer I will be responsible for shaping and managing the University’s corporate image while implementing strategic communication and marketing plans. The role involves building strong relationships with the media, stakeholders, and the public to enhance visibility and reputation of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement corporate communications policies, strategies, and programmes.
- Manage both internal and external communications including media relations.
- Prepare media supplements, documentaries, press releases, and feature stories.
- Administer and maintain social media platforms and other digital communication channels.
- Develop publicity strategies to raise awareness of the University’s programmes and achievements.
- Maintain a visual and photographic archive for the University.
- Coordinate public advocacy initiatives and forums.
- Update and manage a database of media contacts.
- Serve as a communication liaison between the University and external stakeholders.
- Edit and produce internal and external communication materials including reports, publications, speeches, videos, and web content.
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication channels.
- Design and distribute information, education, and communication materials.
- Conduct communication needs assessments, perception analysis, and recommend corrective measures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
To be considered for this position, the candidate must have:
- A Master’s degree in one of the following fields: Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, Communication and Media, International Relations and Diplomacy, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized and accredited institution.
- At least three (3) years’ experience as Senior Corporate Communication Officer II or in a comparable position.
- Relevant technical and professional certification from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Registration with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
- A Certificate in a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated merit and ability through previous work performance and results.
2. Plumber II – Grade 4

Department: Estates
Position: 1
Job Purpose
The Plumber II will be responsible for ensuring proper maintenance and functioning of plumbing systems within the University. The role involves inspecting, installing, and repairing plumbing systems, as well as responding promptly to emergencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspection and maintenance of plumbing infrastructure.
- Repair leaking pipes, clogged drains, and faulty fixtures.
- Install water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary appliances, and related fixtures.
- Respond promptly to emergency plumbing issues such as burst pipes or sewer blockages.
- Support renovation and remodeling projects by updating outdated plumbing systems.
- Monitor and maintain water intake systems to ensure consistent supply across the University.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements for Appointment
Applicants must possess the following:
- A minimum of KCSE Grade D+ (Plus).
- Government Trade Test I Certificate.
- Certificate in Plumbing from an accredited training institution.
- At least three (3) years’ experience as Plumber III or in a similar role.
Terms and Conditions of Service
- Successful candidates will receive a competitive remuneration package.

- Candidates with academic credentials from foreign universities must attach the certificate of equation and recognition of qualifications from the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA).
