Overall Purpose of the Job
The Branch Unit Coordinator is a key figure in our distribution structure, reporting directly to the Branch Manager or Business Development Manager. The primary purpose of this role is to build and manage a high-performing unit of insurance intermediaries. This involves recruiting, training, coaching, and leading a team to deliver business targets in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
The Branch Unit Coordinator is expected to drive business acquisition efforts, maintain service excellence, and ensure that their unit aligns with the company’s growth strategy and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Unit Development
- Establish and consistently maintain a unit of at least 50 active and productive intermediaries.
- Ensure all intermediaries are properly vetted, licensed, and signed under valid Agency Contracts with the company.
2. Recruitment and Training
- Recruit qualified and committed intermediaries to expand your unit.
- Train, coach, and continuously motivate intermediaries to meet and exceed business acquisition goals.
- Drive the adoption of industry best practices and internal performance standards.
3. Performance Management
- Continuously monitor unit productivity and profitability.
- Prepare and share performance reports regularly with both intermediaries and management.
- Align team objectives with company-wide service delivery expectations.
4. Business Development
- Actively procure and solicit new business on behalf of the company.
- Focus predominantly on general insurance sales (Non-Medical) sourced from both intermediaries and personal selling efforts.
- Encourage cross-selling opportunities including the introduction of other product lines such as health insurance where appropriate.
5. Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain full compliance with all relevant laws, Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) requirements, and market conduct guidelines.
- Secure and renew all mandatory certifications and licenses, including IRA certification.
- Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
6. Client Relationship Management
- Handle all client information with the highest standards of confidentiality.
- Accurately collect and submit KYC documents as per company policy.
- Foster strong, trust-based relationships with both clients and intermediaries.
7. Brand Management
- Represent and uphold the AAR Insurance brand and values in all internal and external engagements.
- Organize and participate in marketing activations and community outreach initiatives approved by the company.
8. Ethical Conduct
- Refrain from unauthorized sharing of confidential company or client information.
- Do not collect premiums or any payments directly from clients under any circumstance.
- Strictly adhere to the Code of Conduct as stipulated for unit managers.
Education, Experience & Competencies
- A diploma in insurance, COP, or other recognized professional qualification is required.
- A degree will be considered an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in team leadership, sales, and business development.
- Deep understanding of the insurance industry’s regulatory landscape.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to coach, motivate and evaluate team performance effectively.
