Job Description
This role is the entry and training grade for individuals in the Health Administrative Officer cadre. It offers an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the healthcare administrative field. Successful candidates will support the smooth running of health institutions and assist in the strategic planning and execution of key administrative responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Health Administrative Officer III, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Budget Management: Preparation and implementation of facility budgets in collaboration with relevant departments to ensure optimal use of financial resources.
- Health Facility Maintenance: Participate in the development and upkeep of healthcare facilities, including coordination of maintenance work and infrastructure improvements.
- Estate Management: Oversee the management of residential and non-residential buildings affiliated with health institutions, ensuring they are well maintained and secure.
- Revenue Coordination: Facilitate the coordination of revenue collection mechanisms within the health institution to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Catering and Housekeeping Oversight: Supervise the provision of catering and housekeeping services to ensure hygienic and efficient delivery of services to patients and staff.
- Transport and Equipment Management: Oversee requisition processes, transport logistics, utilization, and proper management of institutional stores and equipment.
- Staff and Patient Welfare: Ensure the safety and well-being of both staff and patients through effective security management and welfare initiatives.
- Health Institution Management: Play an active role in the day-to-day administration of hospitals or health centers to maintain high operational standards.
- Committee Support: Provide secretarial and administrative support to various internal committees, including documentation and coordination of meetings.
- Health Administrative Standards: Uphold and support the maintenance of recognized administrative standards within the health institution.
Requirements for Appointment
To be eligible for appointment to the position of Health Administrative Officer III, a candidate must:
- Be a Kenyan citizen.
- Possess a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C- (minus) or its equivalent, with at least a C in English/Kiswahili and Mathematics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Hold a Diploma in any of the following fields:
- Hospital/Health Institution Administration
- Health Administration
- Business Management
- Business Administration
- Have a Certificate in Computer Application Skills from a recognized institution.
