Job Vacancy: Security Officer
We are inviting applications from motivated and experienced professionals to fill the position of Security Officer. The role is essential in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our patients, staff, visitors, and property. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the hospital’s day-to-day operations by ensuring safety and compliance with security protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Security Officer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Conducting regular patrols across the hospital premises to identify and prevent security breaches or suspicious behavior.
- Implementing and monitoring access control procedures at all entry and exit points, particularly within high-risk and restricted zones.
- Reporting safety concerns, malfunctioning equipment, or any breaches in hospital policies to appropriate personnel.
- Responding quickly and efficiently to security alarms, emergencies, or any incidents occurring on hospital property.
- Assisting with preliminary investigations by collecting information, preserving evidence, and documenting factual incident reports.
- Coordinating with local law enforcement and other internal departments during emergencies or investigations as necessary.
- Supervising the work of third-party security service providers, including guarding personnel and CCTV operators.
- Ensuring that all security services and personnel comply with contractual obligations and hospital regulations.
- Managing guard schedules, shift handovers, and daily briefings to ensure uninterrupted security operations.
- Reporting any issues with surveillance systems and facilitating timely maintenance or replacement.
- Monitoring hospital asset movements, delivery vehicles, and supply chains to prevent unauthorized access or theft.
- Maintaining logs for visitors and contractors, ensuring ID badges are issued and escort protocols are followed.
- Conducting unannounced checks in high-security areas like stores, laboratories, pharmacies, and finance offices.
- Participating in scheduled security risk assessments and identifying areas of vulnerability.
- Recommending and implementing preventive measures to strengthen overall hospital security.
- Assisting in the execution of follow-up actions after internal audits or previous incidents.
- Carrying out additional tasks as assigned by the Chief Security Officer.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A Diploma in Criminology, Security Management, or a related field. A background in the military or police service will be a distinct advantage.
- Basic training in first aid and emergency response procedures is desirable.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role within a reputable security company or public institution.
- Strong understanding of healthcare privacy standards and patient confidentiality (such as HIPAA).
- Excellent skills in observation, investigation, and problem-solving.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and report-writing skills.
- Familiarity with access control systems and electronic surveillance technologies.
- A clear understanding of hospital operations and protocols for safeguarding sensitive areas.
