Job Description
The Paramedic will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, providing immediate care to critically ill and injured patients, and transporting them to medical facilities. This role also involves coordinating ambulance dispatches and assisting with emergency and non-emergency healthcare activities under the supervision of the Nursing Officer In Charge.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response & Medical Care
- Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide immediate care to the critically ill and injured.
- Escort and monitor patients during transport to medical facilities.
- Ensure a smooth handover of patients at referral facilities.
- Perform triage in waiting bays and during emergencies to prioritize acute cases.
- Administer pre-hospital emergency medical care, including:
- Opening and maintaining an airway
- Ventilating patients
- Performing CPR
- Managing trauma cases such as hemorrhage, shock, wound care, and immobilization
- Assisting with emergency childbirth and other urgent medical conditions
- Continually assess patient condition enroute and administer additional care as necessary.
Operations & Dispatch Coordination
- Manage and schedule ambulance movements efficiently.
- Ensure proper handling of emergency calls, gather accurate information, and communicate effectively with callers.
- Operate within the scope defined by Kenyan law and local regulatory agencies.
Patient Management & Documentation
- Organize and implement care according to medical prescriptions.
- Assist medical staff during rounds, consultations, and procedures.
- Ensure accurate, complete, and timely documentation of patient condition, interventions, and outcomes.
- Submit weekly/monthly Health Information System (HIS) reports.
- Monitor and supervise the use of medical supplies and maintain adequate stock levels.
Safety, Hygiene, and Protocol Compliance
- Promote and adhere to hygiene, infection control, and safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the working environment.
- Comply with regulations concerning deceased handling, property protection, and scene evidence preservation.
- Familiarize yourself and train with specialized emergency medical equipment.
Education & Training
- Attend and facilitate Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions.
- Participate in refresher courses and professional development training.

Job Requirements
