“Mama Shamba Maisha” is a five-year research study to be implemented by the Kenya Medical Research Institute and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). The study seeks to explore the effects of an innovative agricultural intervention package on the health of pregnant women, pregnancy outcomes, and infant health. Women will be enrolled in early pregnancy and followed through to the first year post-delivery with several health outcome measures.
The study is seeking to recruit qualified, interested, and proactive individual to fill the position of farm trainers.
Job Specification
Conduct group and individual agricultural training to study participants and develop and maintain the Mama Shamba Maisha model farm.
Organize demonstration plots within the demo farm for hands-on learning
Track the model farm productivity by keeping clear farm records
Provide continuous support through farm-based discussions with study participants
Work with the participants to ensure adoption of best practices for farming and sustainability strategies
Build relationships with farmers, community leaders and sub-county agricultural extension officers
Assist the Agriculture Training Coordinator in agricultural input pick up and distribution activities
Be involved in daily documentation of farming training activities and provide timely reports to the study team
Attend to other duties, as assigned by the study leadership
