Job Description
As a Project Assistant supporting the Regional MRP programme, you will play a pivotal role in the implementation and coordination of activities within the framework of IOM’s multi-year response strategy. You will collaborate with internal units and external partners to ensure accurate tracking of project progress and timely delivery of project outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring and Evaluation Support
- Assist in monitoring project indicators, achievement tracking, and final reporting.
- Support quarterly financial tracking and ensure means of verification are documented and organized.
- Participate in partner consultations to help establish indicators and data standards.
- Administrative Coordination
- Provide administrative support during project implementation.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and obtain necessary clearances.
- Help organize activities under the MRP workplans, including events, training sessions, and meetings.
- Data Collection and Analysis
- Consolidate information across country offices to ensure coherence in the MRP framework.
- Support monitoring of data collection activities and assist in analysis and documentation.
- Process, encode, and transfer project data in compliance with IOM standards.
- Communication and Reporting
- Draft reports, presentations, statistical tables, briefing notes, and other relevant documents.
- Support the drafting of the MRP annual and final narrative reports.
- Assist in documenting lessons learned and good practices.
- Project Development and Capacity Building
- Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and concept notes.
- Provide input to the development of new projects and contribute to overall project management.
- Other Duties
- Undertake duty travel as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience and Skills
- Professional Experience:
- At least two (2) years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or four (4) years with a high school diploma.
- Experience in project management, humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, or development assistance.
- Previous work in UN or international NGO contexts, especially in Africa, is highly desirable.
- Technical and Functional Skills:
- Strong understanding of the project management cycle.
- Ability to produce clear and concise reports with results matrices and log frames.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and relational databases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders including governments, NGOs, and academic institutions.
- Good analytical and creative thinking abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Languages
- Fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
- Working knowledge of French or any other official UN language is an added advantage.
