About the Role
As a Senior Data Analyst at ARC Ride, you will play a critical role in shaping the company’s data-driven decision-making culture. Reporting to the Technology Lead, you will be at the heart of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets to guide strategic and operational decisions across the organization.
This is not just a technical role — it’s a strategic one. You will collaborate with business leaders, developers, engineers, and analysts to provide insights that drive performance, efficiency, and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Data Analysis & Interpretation
- Lead the deep-dive analysis of large and complex datasets to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, visual reports, and analytical tools that present KPIs and business metrics.
- Translate data into insights and recommendations that inform strategic business decisions across departments.
2. Data Strategy & Reporting
- Design and implement scalable data collection methods to improve data quality and accuracy.
- Produce comprehensive reports on business performance, operational efficiencies, and market trends.
- Develop ad-hoc analytics solutions to support stakeholder decision-making.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with department heads to understand their data needs and deliver impactful insights.
- Present complex data analyses in clear, non-technical language for decision-makers.
- Lead cross-departmental meetings and discussions focused on data insights and strategy.
4. Data Governance & Management
- Establish and enforce data quality standards, ensuring consistency and integrity across platforms.
- Contribute to defining and implementing data governance policies and security protocols.
- Advise on best practices for data storage, management, and usage.
5. Advanced Analytics & Tools Utilization
- Apply statistical techniques and machine learning models to predict outcomes and identify opportunities.
- Utilize tools like SQL, Python, R, and Tableau for data analysis, visualization, and automation.
- Enhance and streamline existing data pipelines and analytics systems.
6. Mentorship & Training
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts, sharing best practices and technical expertise.
- Conduct training to build data literacy across the organization, promoting a data-driven culture.
7. Process Optimization
- Continuously assess and refine data collection and analysis processes.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities for routine data operations.
- Integrate disparate data sources for a unified analytical approach.
8. Data Infrastructure Development
- Design and manage ETL/ELT processes for high-volume data movement between platforms.
- Build and maintain scalable data lakes and warehouses that support real-time and batch processing.
- Ensure robust data infrastructure to support analytics and reporting needs.
9. Quality Control
- Establish rigorous data quality checks and validation mechanisms.
- Troubleshoot data anomalies and ensure swift resolution of data-related issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation for data processes, logic, and workflows.
Requirements & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following credentials, skills, and experience:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data analysis or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in analyzing complex datasets and producing actionable insights.
- Proven expertise in large-scale data engineering and big data technologies.
- Advanced skills in SQL, Python, and database management.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
- Experience handling a wide range of data types including structured, unstructured, and streaming data.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS) and scalable data architecture.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical data.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Currently based in Nairobi or willing to relocate.
Desirable (Nice-to-Have) Skills
- Certifications in data analytics, engineering, or machine learning.
- Experience in IoT environments and real-time analytics.
- Practical knowledge of machine learning frameworks.
- Prior collaboration with global or distributed teams.
