As a prominent legal and human rights organization, Kituo Cha Sheria has been at the forefront of advocating for access to justice and the realization of human rights across Kenya. We are thrilled to announce that we are currently accepting applications for six-month career-enhancing opportunities in various departments across our Nairobi and Mombasa offices, including our social justice centres.

Placements will run from 01 July 2025 to 31 December 2025, offering you the chance to gain valuable field experience, mentorship, and exposure to the real-world workings of justice and human rights advocacy in Kenya.

1. Internship Opportunities

Who Should Apply:
Recent graduates in the following fields:

  • Law
  • Governance
  • Human Resources

Job Description:
Interns will be embedded within relevant departments and will:

  • Support day-to-day departmental operations.
  • Assist with research, case file management, community outreach, and documentation.
  • Participate in fieldwork and report writing.
  • Contribute to project implementation and evaluation.
  • Attend and support workshops, legal aid clinics, and public forums.
  • Assist in developing communication and advocacy materials.
  • Undertake other tasks assigned by supervisors that align with learning goals.

This internship provides graduates with invaluable real-world experience and an understanding of grassroots-level challenges in social justice and rights-based advocacy.


2. Practical Attachment Opportunities

Who Should Apply:
Students pursuing academic qualifications in:

  • Law
  • Governance

Job Description:
Attachment students will be assigned tasks in alignment with their academic requirements and will:

  • Assist in administrative and technical roles in respective departments.
  • Work under supervision to understand practical applications of classroom theory.
  • Observe and assist in legal aid service delivery, counselling sessions, or project activities.
  • Participate in community-based initiatives and sensitization forums.
  • Support documentation and filing of critical reports and case notes.
  • Engage in research activities to support legal or social intervention strategies.

These attachments help students bridge the gap between theory and practice and cultivate a sense of purpose in their career paths.


3. Law Pupilage Opportunities

Who Should Apply:
Law students who have completed the Advocates Training Programme (ATP) and are seeking pupilage.

Job Description:
Pupils will undergo structured mentorship and training under qualified advocates and legal officers. They will:

  • Engage in client interviews and legal counselling under supervision.
  • Draft pleadings, legal opinions, and research briefs.
  • Attend and observe court proceedings, arbitration, and tribunals.
  • Participate in legal aid clinics and mobile legal aid forums.
  • Be actively involved in strategic litigation processes.
  • Support alternative dispute resolution initiatives.
  • Learn ethics and responsibilities required of practicing advocates.

This opportunity equips pupils with foundational skills for legal practice while deepening their understanding of public interest law and community service.


4. Volunteer Holding-Over Advocate Opportunities

Who Should Apply:
Newly admitted advocates of the High Court of Kenya who have no previous work experience.

Job Description:
Volunteer holding-over advocates will work closely with legal and program teams to:

  • Provide legal aid to indigent clients.
  • Conduct legal research and write briefs, opinions, and advocacy content.
  • Represent clients under guidance in court and tribunals (where applicable).
  • Facilitate legal literacy and awareness sessions in communities.
  • Engage in mediation and other dispute resolution activities.
  • Support litigation, including case monitoring and follow-ups.
  • Contribute to training paralegals and community volunteers.

This opportunity allows new advocates to gain valuable practical experience and serve communities while building competence and confidence in legal practice.

  • Social Justice Centres affiliated with Kituo Cha Sheria in various parts of Kenya
