Position: Shelf Stocker
Job Overview
The Shelf Stocker is responsible for maintaining an orderly, efficient, and clean retail environment by ensuring that all shelves are fully stocked with the appropriate merchandise. The individual must follow all safety protocols and stocking procedures to ensure that products are handled and displayed correctly.
The role demands consistent attention to detail, customer engagement, and adherence to Tai Bargain’s operational standards. Shelf Stockers play a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction by maintaining high product availability and store presentation standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Shelf Stockers at Tai Bargain Supermarket will perform the following key responsibilities:
1. Checking and Restocking Aisles
- Conduct regular walk-throughs of all aisles to identify low or empty shelf areas.
- Replenish stock on shelves promptly from the store’s backroom or inventory storage.
- Verify that all restocked items are correctly placed in their respective product categories.
2. Removing Expired Items
- Continuously monitor product expiry dates across all shelves and cold storage areas.
- Remove and document all expired items according to the supermarket’s inventory control policy.
- Collaborate with inventory managers to maintain accurate product availability and freshness.
3. Arranging Shelves, Fridges, and Freezers
- Neatly arrange products on shelves, fridges, and freezer units in accordance with the store’s planogram.
- Ensure product labels are facing forward, clearly visible, and aligned for optimal presentation.
- Maintain a logical and customer-friendly product flow within each category section.
4. Product Rotation Based on Sell-by Dates
- Implement the First-In-First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation method to ensure older stock is sold first.
- Regularly rotate items with sell-by or best-before dates to maintain freshness.
- Coordinate with department leads on high-priority or time-sensitive stock placements.
5. Cleaning Shelves and Stock Areas
- Conduct daily cleaning of shelves, display units, and adjacent floor areas to prevent dust buildup.
- Ensure that stock areas, fridges, and freezers are clean, sanitized, and free from obstructions.
- Dispose of packaging and waste materials in accordance with Tai Bargain’s hygiene standards.
6. Customer Assistance and Product Location
- Assist customers by responding to queries about product availability or location.
- Guide customers to specific items on the sales floor with professionalism and courtesy.
- Maintain an approachable and customer-service-oriented attitude throughout shifts.
7. Operating Checkouts and Self-Checkout Guidance
- When required, operate checkout counters with accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide support to customers using self-checkout machines, including scanning items, processing payments, and resolving minor errors.
- Ensure all checkout areas are clean, organized, and well-supplied.
Key Qualifications and Skills Required
