This role is individually accountable for supporting the Group CEO UAP Old Mutual East Africa in formulation of investment philosophy, strategy and processes to ensure overall Asset Management business delivery. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results over periods for up to two years.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for setting the investment philosophy, strategy and process.
- Responsible for ensuring alignment between OMIGSA and Country Asset Management at a philosophy level.
- Responsible for performance of overall business delivery.
- Responsible for the governance, compliance and general control environment within Asset Management. Ensures clean audit, risk and compliance reports.
- Responsible for the overall client relationship in the investment business.
- Responsible for the development of new solutions (Private Equity Funds and Fixed Interest Products).
- Responsible for ensuring that efficient business processes and practices are in place.
- Responsible for people management aspects of the Asset Management business.
- Delegates to, and manages, functional teams.
- Develops MMs and specialists under supervision.
- Manages the pipeline of talent in existing and new markets, including building succession plans across the business to ensure that the necessary depth of talent for channel leadership is available.
- Ensures clean audit, risk and compliance reports.
- Defines and implements investment best practice in area of responsibility.
- Drives operational excellence throughout Asset Management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- B.Com, B.Sc (Econ), B.Acc. (i.e. Business Degree)
- Postgraduate in Financial Industry
- CFA/ICIFA qualification is an added advantage
ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
