Position Title: Shelf Stocker
Job Summary
The Shelf Stocker will be responsible for maintaining the presentation, organization, and cleanliness of shelves across all sections of the store. The role requires efficiency, accuracy, and a high level of attention to detail. Shelf Stockers work closely with inventory teams and customer service personnel to support the store’s daily operational goals.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
The Shelf Stocker will undertake the following responsibilities:
Stock Checking and Restocking
- Perform routine checks to identify understocked or empty shelves across the store.
- Replenish products from the store’s inventory storage to display shelves in a timely manner.
- Verify and ensure products are placed in the correct sections based on category and labeling.
Expired Stock Removal
- Monitor product expiry dates on a continuous basis.
- Remove expired or near-expiry items and report to the supervisor for stock adjustments.
- Comply with store policies for documenting and disposing of expired products.
Shelf, Fridge, and Freezer Arrangement
- Neatly organize products in display units, ensuring clear labeling and visibility.
- Follow the store’s layout guidelines (planograms) for product placement.
- Arrange chilled and frozen products in cold storage units based on category and accessibility.
Product Rotation and Stock Freshness
- Apply First-In-First-Out (FIFO) stock rotation procedures to ensure older items are sold first.
- Inspect sell-by and use-by dates during every restocking activity.
- Coordinate with relevant departments to manage high-risk inventory items.
Maintenance of Cleanliness
- Wipe down shelves, display units, and surrounding floor space daily.
- Ensure stock areas and cold storage spaces are kept clean and clutter-free.
- Safely dispose of packaging waste and other materials as per hygiene protocols.
Customer Interaction and Guidance
- Provide assistance to customers seeking help in locating products.
- Answer product-related queries and offer directions with courtesy and professionalism.
- Represent the store in a customer-friendly and approachable manner at all times.
Operating Checkout Systems
- When assigned, assist in operating checkout counters for billing and payment processing.
- Offer help to customers using self-checkout machines, ensuring smooth transactions.
- Keep the checkout areas organized and restocked with necessary supplies.
Required Qualifications and Skills

Work Experience
- Prior experience in retail, warehousing, or stock management is preferred but not mandatory.
