Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is committed to providing world-class healthcare services. To continue delivering on our promise, we are looking for an initiative-taking and dedicated Mortuary Attendant/Laboratory Assistant to join our team.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing laboratory services as part of the multidisciplinary service delivery process leading to desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Participate in the transportation of the deceased as required, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standard.
2. Participate with the proper handling, embalming, storage and preparation of bodies in a respectful manner.
3. Maintain a clean and organized morgue environment, following all health and safety procedures.
4. Document and track information related to the deceased, including identification, autopsy and case details.
5. Coordinate with medical examiners, law enforcement and other relevant personnel regarding the handling of cases.
6. Support families during their time of loss by providing information and guidance on the morgue’s processes.
7. Coordinate mortuary and laboratory assistant services to achieve desired service standards.
8. Participate in removing of foreign bodies and implants in the Deceased
8. Performing of fingerprinting on unknown cases.
9. Manage the internal laboratory result sorting bench.
10. Smooth operation of the laboratory in line with defined operations, standards and outcomes.
11. Proper handling, routine preventive maintenance, operating equipment and it’s storage.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
1. Diploma in Mortuary Sciences from a reputable institution
2. Registration with Kenya Health Professions Oversight Authority (KHPOA)
3. Valid practice license.
4. At least one (1) year hospital experience.
5. Certificate in computer application
6. Compliance with chapter Six of our constitution
