This part-time role is integral to supporting the developmental needs of children through professional speech and language therapy services.
Vacancy: Speech Therapist for Children (Part-Time)

Nature of Work:
Part-Time – flexible hours with structured intervention and collaboration schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
As the Speech Therapist, you will be working within a multidisciplinary team, directly contributing to the speech and communication development of children at Paolo’s Home. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct assessments using approved protocols and diagnostic tools to identify speech and language disorders in children.
- Diagnose various speech-related conditions, including articulation, fluency, voice, and language difficulties.
- Individualized Therapy Planning
- Develop tailored treatment plans based on each child’s specific diagnosis and developmental needs.
- Continuously revise therapy plans in response to progress, setbacks, or emerging concerns.
- Therapy Implementation
- Design and use therapy materials that support verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Carry out structured therapy sessions aimed at stimulating speech, language, and cognitive development.
- Monitoring & Documentation
- Regularly document children’s progress, including therapeutic milestones and therapy adjustments.
- Prepare periodic reports for internal use and caregiver communication.
- Caregiver & Family Engagement
- Educate and coach caregivers on how to support therapy goals at home.
- Share practical tools and activities that families can implement to reinforce therapy.
- Collaboration with Specialists
- Partner with special needs teachers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other stakeholders in developing holistic care plans.
- Participate in regular interdisciplinary meetings to align goals and enhance treatment outcomes.
- Training & Capacity Building
- Provide training for caregivers and team members on speech development, cognitive therapy techniques, and intervention methods.
- Referrals & Follow-Up
- Identify and refer children to additional educational, medical, or specialist services as needed.
- Ensure that referrals are made in consultation with the appropriate internal professionals.
- Team Participation
- Attend regular staff meetings, case presentations, and planning sessions.
- Contribute to team-building efforts and interdisciplinary knowledge sharing.
- Other Duties
- Undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the Project Team Leader to support the overall mission and activities at Paolo’s Home.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy or a related field.
- A valid certification or license in speech-language pathology from a recognized professional body (e.g., Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Kenya – ASLTK) is considered an added advantage.
- A minimum of 2 years’ work experience in a similar setting, preferably working with children with diverse developmental needs.
- Proficiency in working with diverse populations and in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills.
- Experience in community-based training and awareness creation is desirable.
- Knowledge of child rights, especially for children with disabilities.
- Ability to use MS Office and digital documentation tools effectively.
Additional skills such as counseling and special needs education will be considered an advantage.
