Position: IT Manager
Location: Roo Bay Farm, Sindo, Homa Bay County

Overview
As our IT Manager, you will be at the forefront of overseeing and optimizing our technological infrastructure across various sites involved in large-scale fish farming operations. This role is crucial in ensuring the security, efficiency, and scalability of all our IT systems.
You will lead a dynamic, multidisciplinary team responsible for cloud services, cybersecurity, device and network management, and vendor coordination. Beyond daily operations, you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align IT initiatives with business goals and uphold compliance with relevant regulations.
This role is ideal for a high-caliber IT leader with a passion for innovation and a commitment to excellence in digital infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Infrastructure Management
- Lead the strategic design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Ensure cloud systems are high-performing, scalable, and cost-effective.
- Oversee provisioning, monitoring, and performance tuning of cloud services.
- Collaborate with teams to design cloud migration paths from legacy on-premises environments.
2. Network Operations
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade network systems including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless infrastructure.
- Ensure high availability and robust performance of internal networks.
- Continuously monitor traffic and troubleshoot network-related issues.
- Drive expansion, upgrades, and redesigns of network architecture in tandem with business growth.
3. Cybersecurity and Compliance
- Formulate and enforce cybersecurity policies and standards aligned with regulations like the Kenya Data Protection Act, GDPR, and PCI DSS.
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests regularly.
- Stay ahead of emerging cybersecurity trends and ensure proactive mitigation of risks.
- Foster a secure IT environment by educating staff and implementing automated controls.
4. Device Management and Sourcing
- Manage procurement, deployment, and lifecycle of hardware (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, etc.).
- Use Mobile Device Management (MDM) or Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) tools for compliance and configuration control.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships; negotiate procurement contracts for hardware and software.
- Ensure asset tracking and usage optimization.
5. Leadership and Team Development
- Supervise a diverse team of technicians, analysts, and interns.
- Set clear standards, foster accountability, and encourage knowledge sharing.
- Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to enhance team growth.
- Drive a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are looking for a seasoned IT leader who can hit the ground running. You’ll have extensive experience managing IT operations, leading teams, and implementing scalable infrastructure solutions across cloud and on-prem environments.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and compliance.
Professional Background Requirements:
- Proven experience (10+ years) in IT management with hands-on involvement in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, sourcing, device and network administration.
- In-depth knowledge of major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Solid understanding of network design, monitoring tools, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Familiarity with IT procurement processes, vendor negotiations, and budget planning.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to inspire and lead a diverse IT team.
- Effective project management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines under pressure.
Certifications (Optional but Valuable):
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional)
