In line with our growth, evolving digital needs, and increasing engagement with a wide range of stakeholders — including donors, research partners, and communities — we are seeking a highly qualified Website Design Consultant or Consultancy Firm to lead the redesign of our organizational website. The aim is to create a modern, user-friendly, and engaging platform that highlights our legacy, showcases our research and impact, and enhances access to vital information for diverse audiences.

Position Overview
ICRHK intends to partner with an experienced website designer or consultancy to reimagine its digital presence. The redesigned website should be a compelling reflection of over two decades of leadership in sexual and reproductive health and rights in Kenya and beyond. The consultant will be responsible for designing and developing a fully functional website that is accessible, mobile-responsive, and content-rich, with an intuitive and engaging interface.
Scope of Work
The selected consultant will be responsible for:
- Website Redesign & Development:
- Create a fresh, modern, and user-friendly website design aligned with ICRHK’s brand and mission.
- Ensure intuitive navigation and improved user experience for a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Use WordPress or another flexible CMS to manage content such as documents, videos, audio, and infographics.
- Ensure cross-platform compatibility and full mobile responsiveness.
- Comply with accessibility standards to support users with disabilities.
- Content & Information Architecture:
- Enhance access to research, publications, media releases, job postings, and program details.
- Streamline menu structures and integrate dynamic content filters (e.g., by topic, year, region).
- Highlight ICRHK’s history, achievements, and impact using data visualizations and multimedia content.
- User Engagement & Calls to Action:
- Integrate clear calls to action for donations, newsletter signups, blogs, social media, job applications, and media downloads.
- Enhance visibility of ongoing campaigns and upcoming events.
- Security & Performance Optimization:
- Ensure the website is secure, SEO optimized, and scalable.
- Optimize page speed and mobile usability.
Design Requirements
The consultant must deliver a platform that is:
- Visually Appealing:
- A human-centered design with authentic imagery, vibrant colors, and warm aesthetics.
- Dynamic templates that can adapt to various content formats.
- Credible & Professional:
- Inclusion of logos, partner profiles, and organizational certifications.
- A press/media kit for external stakeholders.
- Impact-Focused:
- Highlight ICRHK’s results through infographics, success stories, testimonials, and embedded videos.
- Filterable knowledge and resource center with publications and toolkits.
- Accessible & Inclusive:
- Compliance with global accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG).
- Language clarity and simplified visuals for diverse user groups.
Key Deliverables
- Inception Report
- Includes detailed approach, resource needs, and project timeline.
- Design Prototypes
- Preliminary homepage and core template designs for review and feedback.
- Functional Website
- A fully developed, secure website with the agreed design and features.
- User Guide & Training
- A comprehensive guide and training for ICRHK staff to manage the CMS.
- Maintenance Plan
- Provision for three (3) months of post-launch technical support and maintenance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum five (5) years of demonstrated experience in website design and development, with a focus on mobile-first, user-friendly platforms.
- Proficiency in WordPress and relevant web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL).
- Proven expertise in SEO, website performance optimization, and integration of data visualization tools.
- Ability to incorporate health data systems such as DHIS2 or GIS tools.
- Strong communication skills, with experience providing training to non-technical teams.
- Portfolio of similar assignments with NGOs, research institutions, or health-focused organizations.
Timeframe
The consultancy is expected to be completed within 30 days of signing the contract. This includes initial planning, prototyping, site development, testing, training, and go-live support.
