Kenyatta University seeks to recruit competent and dedicated individuals to fill up the following positions:

TEACHING POSITIONS:

  1. DEPARTMENT OF CONSTRUCTION AND REAL ESTATE MANAGEMENT:

1.1 Professor.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. An earned PhD degree in Construction Management or Real Estate Management from a recognized institution.
  2. At least three (3) years of University teaching experience as Associate Professor.
  3. Successfully supervised at least five (5) Masters Students and two (2) Doctoral students, since being appointed as Associate Professor.
  4. At least five (5) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as Associate Professor.
  5. Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as Associate Professor.
  6. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and workshops.
  7. Current registration by relevant professional body.

1.2 Associate Professor.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. An earned PhD degree in Construction Management or Real Estate Management from a recognized institution
  2. At least three (3) years of University teaching experience as Senior Lecturer
  3. Successfully supervised at least four (4) Master students and one (1) Ph.D. student, since being appointed as Senior Lecturer.
  4. At least four (4) articles in refereed journals since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
  5. Evidence of successfully applying for a grant either individually or as a group since being appointed as a Senior Lecturer.
  6. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars and workshops.
  7. Current registration by relevant professional body.

1.3 Senior Lecturer

Qualification and Experience:

  1. An earned PhD degree in Construction Management or Real Estate Management from a recognized institution.
  2. At least three (3) years of University teaching as full-time Lecturer or five (5) years’ work in research or in relevant industry.
  3. At least three (3) articles in refereed Journals since being appointed as Lecturer

  1. DEPARTMENT OF FINE ART AND DESIGN:

2.1 Lecturer

Qualification and Experience:

  1. An earned PhD degree qualification in Fine Art or Design preferably in Ceramics, Sculpture/Multimedia Crafts, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Textile Design and Art History or equivalent from an accredited and recognized University
  2. A relevant Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Fine Art or Design from an accredited and recognized University.
  3. At least three (3) years University teaching or research / industry experience
  4. At least two (2) articles in refereed journals
  5. Evidence of attendance and contribution at learning conferences, seminars or workshops

2.2 Tutorial Fellow

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Master’s degree and Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art or Design preferably in Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture/Multimedia Crafts, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Animation, Fabric Design and Art History
  2. University teaching experience will be an added advantage
  3. Applicants must be prepared to pursue PhD in the specified areas of specialization.

NON – TEACHING POSITIONS

  1. DIRECTORATE OF SECURITY SERVICES:

3.1 Senior Security Officer (Investigations) Grade E/F:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate and undertake office and field-based investigations into allegations of violations of policies, procedures, standards, guidelines, and applicable rules and regulations in the University.
  2. Coordinate preparation and/or prepare comprehensive reports and ad hoc briefs pertaining to investigations and, based on analysis and findings, make solid recommendations for corrective actions, improved controls and efficiency of security operations.
  3. Supervise other security officers in Investigation Section in the preparation of security reports in order to ensure accuracy in investigations, documentation and reporting of security matters in the university.
  4. Manage the work-flow of cases assigned to the Investigation Officers.
  5. Provide advice on and promote best practices with respect to investigations.
  6. Assist in the development and implementation of Investigators’ trainings.
  7. Gather and analyze intelligence to develop preventive strategies that enhance the security of the University’s assets and operations.
  8. Assist in developing and delivering security training programs and sensitization initiatives to promote compliance with security standards and policies.
  9. Participate in planning and coordinating responses to security incidents, investigating violations and contributing to disciplinary or legal actions as necessary.
  10. Maintain an up-to-date database of security incidents and trends, generating reports for management decision-making and action.
  11. Mentor, coach and develop security staff to enhance their skills and performance.
  12. Investigate and document security breaches and incidents.
  13. Liaise with law enforcement stakeholders when needed.
  14. Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Security Services from time to time.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Degree in Criminology or a Security-related field from recognized and accredited institution.
  2. KCSE C+ Plus or equivalent
  3. Minimum six (6) years cumulative relevant work experience.
  4. Certificate of clean record of discharge from any of the disciplined forces Sergeant/Inspector/Warrant Officer in Police Service/Kenya Defense Forces.
  5. Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
  6. Proficiency in Crime/Investigation Management.
  7. Knowledge in Cyber Security.
  8. Computer literate.

3.2 Security Officer (Investigations) Grade A/B

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Protect university properties against loss and damage.
  2. Report security incidences and emergencies to the senior security officer, investigation.
  3. Respond to safety, emergency and enforcement alerts.
  4. Investigate and document security breaches and incidents.
  5. Respond to security incidents, investigating violations and contributing to disciplinary or legal actions as necessary.
  6. Participate in carrying out intelligence gathering and investigations as directed by supervisor.
  7. Maintain an up-to-date record of security incidents and trends.
  8. Ensure high level of customer services to all clients.
  9. Perform any other relevant duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director of Security Services from time to time.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Diploma in Criminology or Security-related field from a recognized and accredited institution.
  2. Minimum KCSE C – Minus or equivalent

3.3 Fire Engine Driver/Operator Grade III/IV

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury.
  2. Safely and efficiently driving the fire engine to the scene of fire in response to an emergency.
  3. Operating the fire engine pumps and other fire/rescue apparatus safely and efficiently.
  4. Making routine daily checks and inspection of the fire engine to ensure it is in sound mechanical condition.
  5. Ensuring general routine maintenance of the fire engine and equipment in line with the manufacturer’s specifications.
  6. Perform all duties of a fire fighter.
  7. Any other related duties.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Be a holder of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education / O-level education; (minimum grade D+ Plus).
  2. Possess a valid motor vehicle driving license class BCE.
  3. Have minimum three (3) years proven experience in fire engine driving and operating of firefighting equipment.
  4. Have proven experience in managing disasters.
  5. Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from an institution recognized institution.
  6. Possess a First Aid Certificate a recognized Institution.
  7. Certificate of vehicle mechanics / maintenance and repair will be an added advantage.
  8. Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
  9. Computer literate.
  10. Valid computer clearance certificate.

3.4 Firefighter Grade III/IV

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Operate firefighting application and communication equipment.
  2. Perform specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire.
  3. Respond to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency.
  4. Safeguard their own and other people’s safety at all times.
  5. Assisting in rescue operation.
  6. Inspect, maintain appliances and equipment, ensure they are in good condition in accordance with county fire fighting policies and procedures.
  7. Any other duty that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. A holder of KCSE/ O level (Minimum of grade D+ Plus).
  2. Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from a recognized institution.
  3. Have a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution.
  4. Have minimum three (3) year experience in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment.
  5. Former members of the disciplined forces and the NYS who have undergone firefighting training or ex-fire fighters will have an added advantage.
  6. Valid Police Clearance Certificate
  7. Computer literate.

3.5 Firefighting Supervisor Grade A/B

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose relevant correspondences
  2. Supervise the fire and safety activities
  3. Develop and present training programs designed to instruct agency personnel in accident prevention and occupational safety techniques.
  4. Originate and direct fire drills and other simulated emergencies.
  5. Operating firefighting application and communication equipment.
  6. Perform specialized functions in preparing and responding to fire and emergency calls in order to prevent and/or minimize loss of life, property or injury as a result of fire
  7. Respond to emergency calls with utmost speed and efficiency
  8. Safeguard their own and other people’s safety at all times
  9. Assist in rescue operation
  10. Inspect and maintain appliances and equipment and ensuring they are in good condition in accordance with county fire fighting policies and procedures

Qualification and Experience:

  1. A holder of KCSE C – Minus or equivalent
  2. Be a holder of a firefighting/rescue service certificate or relevant certificate from an institution recognized in Kenya; Certification as a Fire Officer or Fire Instructor is preferred.
  3. Have a First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution.
  4. Have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in fire-fighting and operation of fire-fighting equipment of which, two (2) years are in a supervisory position.

3.6 Security Officer (Radio Operation) Grade A/B

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all communication equipment (i.e. VHF and HF radios and land-line phones) are in perfect working conditions before the start of duty.
  2. Receive, process, record and pass all security related information to the duty officer
  3. Immediately report any incident/accident to the duty officer.
  4. Maintain a 24-hour radio and telephone communication within the Directorate of Security Services.
  5. Maintain an up-to-date all records at security control room.
  6. Keep a log for all communications and promptly dispatch messages.
  7. Keep all messages sent/received by all communications systems in place strictly confidential.
  8. Answer and dispatch incoming calls.
  9. Maintain all emergency contacts in duty stations.
  10. Act quickly in the event of an emergency and contact relevant authorities to contain and help solve critical incidents;
  11. Maintain inventory and be responsible for all radio room equipment.
  12. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Minimum KCSE C – Minus or equivalent.
  2. Diploma in Criminology or in a Security related-related field from a recognized and accredited institution.
  3. Technical training in communication equipment.
  4. Minimum three (3) years’ cumulative work experience in security related field, of which two (2) years should in communications/radio operations and preferably in the disciplined forces/service, fire brigade or private security firms.
  5. Valid Police Clearance Certificate).
  6. Knowledge in Cyber Security.
  7. Computer literate.

3.7 Security Guard Grade III/IV

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Protect University properties against loss and damage.
  2. Enforce security rules and regulations in the University.
  3. Reporting security incidences and emergencies to the security supervisor.
  4. Respond to safety, emergency and enforcement alerts.
  5. Vetting of staff/students and visitors while accessing University premises.
  6. Control crowds during University functions.
  7. Prevent crime and maintain law and order in the University.
  8. Collect security intelligence and report appropriately.
  9. Ensure high level of customer services to all clients.
  10. Perform any other lawful related duties assigned by the Director Security Services

 Qualification and Experience:

  1. KCSE with a mean grade of D+ (Plus) or its equivalent.
  2. At least three (3) years of work experience in a security field.
  3. Valid certificate of good conduct from National Police Service.
  4. Computer literate.
  5. Physically a mentally fit.
  6. Be an individual of high integrity.
  7. Paramilitary training will any of the disciplined forces or private security firm.
  1. DIRECTORATE OF UNIVERSITY HEALTH SERVICES

Senior Care Management Assistant Grade E/F

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Liaise on daily basis with contracted hospitals where staff member or their dependents are admitted to check on medical progress and coherence to established treatment protocols.
  2. Visit and physically verify admitted member identity at the various contracted hospitals upon notification.
  3. Monitor on daily/real-time basis treatment bills incurred at contracted hospitals.
  4. Verify invoices submitted for payment for appropriate charging as per prior approvals.
  5. Prepare scheme performance reports with recommendation for improvement.
  6. Perform any other additional tasks as may be assigned by the Director of University Health Services, Head of Clinical Services or any other Authorized Officer.

     Qualification:

  1. KCSE C (Plain) mean grade or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of two (2) years working experience in handling Medical Claims at a reputable Insurance Company.
  3. Registered with relevant professional body and possess a valid practice license.
  4. Computer Literate.
  5. Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing from an accredited Medical Training Institution. A Higher National Diploma or Bachelors’ Degree will be an added advantage.
  1. DEPARTMENT OF BIOCHEMISTRY, MICROBIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY:

      Animal Care Technician Grade A/B

      Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure daily cleanliness of the animal facility
  2. Ensure Proper diet and health monitoring of laboratory animals
  3. Ensure proper bio containment of research materials and animals in the facility
  4. Ensure proper disposal of all experimental animals
  5. Train students and staff on proper handling and use of laboratory animals 
  6. Develop standard operating procedures on care, use and management of laboratory animals
  7. Maintain proper records of animal ages, gender and those under different experiments.

     Qualification and Experience:

  1. Minimum KCSE C – Minus or equivalent
  2. Diploma in Animal Health and Production from an institution recognized by the Kenya Veterinary Board
  3. Computer certificate
  4. Good verbal and written communication
  5. Registration with the Kenya Veterinary Board
  6. Knowledge of handling, restrained and transportation of laboratory animals
  7. Knowledgeable in laws and guidelines on animal care and use

  1. DEPARTMENT OF CLINICAL RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING SERVICES:

Technician Grade C/D

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Introduce students to the various imaging modalities in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology.
  2. Practically demonstrate the imaging techniques of the Diagnostic Radiology equipment in use at the teaching hospital.
  3. Maintain a register of the student attendance list in the radiology department at the teaching hospital.
  4. Participate in the daily activities of imaging patients in the teaching hospital.
  5. Provide technique questions for the exam bank as requested by the exam coordinator.
  6. Invigilate written exams and coordinate students in practical exams
  7. Participate in the various committees appointed as a member by the chairperson.
  8. Participate in Research activities

Qualification & Experience:

  1. A Bachelors degree in Radiography or equivalent qualification recognized by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  2. Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a radiographer.
  3. Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
  1. NORTH COAST BEACTH HOTEL:
    • Executive Chef

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Creating unique and cuisine-appropriate menus that meet quality standards.
  2. Working with the Food and Beverage Manager to set item prices and ensure a seamless dining experience.
  3. Ensuring the kitchen and surrounding areas meet the set hotels’ standards and health code regulations.
  4. Monitoring inventory and purchasing supplies and food from approved vendors.
  5. Hiring, training, and supervising kitchen staff, and providing direction for all day-to-day operations.
  6. Identifying and introducing new culinary techniques and trends.
  7. Managing the budget, ordering supplies, and ensuring profitability.

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. A degree or diploma in Culinary Arts or a related field from a reputable culinary school or college.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the daily operations of restaurants, bars, room service, and banquet services.
  2. Collaborate with the culinary team to create menus that reflect current culinary trends and meet guest preferences while ensuring profit margins are maintained
  3. Monitor inventory levels, manage ordering, and minimize waste to maximize profitability.
  4. Recruit, train, and supervise food and beverage staff to ensure high standards of service.

     Qualification & Experience:

  • Front Office Manager

     Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Resolve guest complains promptly and courteously, maintain accurate room status information, and ensure all guest requests are handled promptly and efficiently.
  2. Maintain guest records, lost and found records and other hotel information including rates, brochures, company profile and upselling hotel offers
  3. Oversee clients’ payments for bookings and other hotel products and services, prepare monthly reports and budgets, monitor room revenue and occupancy, and enforce cash handling policies.
  4. Maintain working relationships with all departments, attend management meetings, relay information to appropriate personnel, and ensure smooth shift transitions.

Qualification & Experience:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Warmly welcome guests and escort them to their tables and provide menus.
  2. Explain any specials or promotions. Take accurate food and beverage orders and communicate them to the kitchen and bar staff. Serve food and drinks promptly and courteously.
  3. Prepare tables by setting up linens, silverware, and glassware. Ensure tables are clean and well-presented. Clear and reset tables after guests leave.
  4. Check on guests regularly to ensure they are enjoying their meals. Address any questions or concerns from guests promptly and professionally.
  5. Present bills, process payments, and provide accurate change. Handle cash, credit card transactions, and other payment methods securely.
  6. Work closely with kitchen staff, bartenders, and other wait staff to ensure efficient service. Assist colleagues during busy periods or whenever
  7. Follow all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards. Ensure compliance with hotel policies and procedures.

 TERMS OF SERVICE:

The terms of service include Basic salary, house allowance, commuting allowance and medical insurance/cover
