JOB ADVERT – CARDIOLOGIST
Reporting to: Chief Medical Officer
Location: M.P Shah Hospital, Nairobi
Job Type: Full-time
Overall Job Purpose:
To provide expert cardiac care, perform diagnostic and interventional procedures, and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of cardiovascular services.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with a wide range of cardiovascular conditions.
- Conduct and interpret specialized cardiac tests including ECGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, and cardiac catheterizations.
- Provide clinical management for acute cardiac conditions such as heart failure, arrhythmias, and myocardial infarctions.
- Work in tandem with other medical specialists to ensure holistic and coordinated patient care.
- Participate in regular clinical audits, morbidity and mortality case reviews, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Offer detailed patient education and counselling on heart health, lifestyle adjustments, and disease prevention strategies.
- Support the professional development of medical officers, interns, and students through teaching and mentorship.
- Maintain meticulous patient records and comply with institutional protocols and regulatory standards.
- Recommend and refer patients to cardiothoracic surgery where surgical intervention is required.
- Advise patients on comprehensive post-treatment care and rehabilitation strategies.
- Compile and submit periodic reports as required by the Hospital Medical Director.
- Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in cardiology through continuous professional development and attendance at relevant conferences.
- Participate in marketing activities for the Cardiology Clinic, including outreach to potential referring institutions and health-focused community events.
- Lead health talks and staff wellness sessions to promote cardiovascular health among hospital employees.
Qualifications, Regulatory & Legal Requirements:
- MBChB or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in Internal Medicine.
- Specialization certification in Cardiology.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working as a Cardiologist.
- Full registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
