Position: Accounts Officer

We are looking for a competent and experienced Accounts Officer to manage and oversee our financial transactions and ensure all processes are run efficiently and accurately. This is a critical role in our finance department, focused on payment processing, invoice verification, reconciliations, and compliance with statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Payments & Supplier Management
- Ensure timely and accurate posting and payment of supplier invoices.
- Manage supplier account allocations and perform account reconciliations.
- Carry out general ledger account reconciliations.
- Reconcile intercompany balances and prepare confirmations.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date records and filing system.
Invoicing & Customer Management
- Generate accurate invoices and receipts in a timely manner.
- Dispatch customer invoices and statements promptly.
- Ensure full recovery and monthly reconciliations of disbursement accounts.
- Handle customer account allocations and reconciliations.
- Prepare and reconcile voyage statements.
- Conduct intercompany balance confirmations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Maintain orderly financial documentation and records.
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate payment of statutory obligations and other deductions.
- Reconcile statutory accounts and report any discrepancies as required.
Treasury & Cash Management
- Handle cash withdrawals and deposits efficiently.
- Manage petty cash with accuracy and responsibility.
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
Company Assets Management
- Maintain an accurate fixed asset register.
- Conduct physical verification of assets periodically.
Sound Financial Corporate Governance
- Adhere to professional codes of conduct and internal control policies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant company policies and accounting standards.
Other Duties
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management from time to time.
Key Performance Areas / Indicators
- Timely and accurate processing of supplier payments.
- Regular and accurate reconciliation of supplier and customer accounts.
- No instances of non-compliance with statutory requirements.
- Accurate and timely cash management practices.
- Maintenance of an up-to-date and verified asset register.
- Positive collaboration with finance team and external auditors.
