We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-oriented individual to join our team as a Business Development Officer – Pensions, based at our Head Office in Nairobi.


Position: Business Development Officer – Pensions

Reporting to: Manager – Business Development, Pensions
Location: Head Office, Nairobi


Role Purpose

The Business Development Officer – Pensions will be responsible for driving growth within Jubilee Life’s pension products portfolio. This includes Corporate Pensions, Personal Pension Plans, Annuities, and Income Draw Downs. The role involves identifying new business opportunities, fostering strong client and intermediary relationships, and achieving revenue targets while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and internal standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operational Responsibilities

  • Marketing & Branding:
    Conduct in-depth market research to identify new trends, potential clients, and emerging opportunities within the pensions space. Promote the Jubilee Life brand to remain top-of-mind among intermediaries and stakeholders.
  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management:
    Develop a robust pipeline of prospects and actively engage potential clients. Cultivate long-term client relationships by understanding specific needs and delivering customized pension solutions.
  • Business Growth and Revenue Generation:
    Develop actionable strategies to grow revenue and market share. Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling within existing accounts to maximize business value.
  • Intermediary and Partner Relationship Management:
    Establish and nurture strong working relationships with brokers, agents, and strategic business partners to enhance distribution and support business objectives.
  • Proposal Development and Negotiation:
    Draft compelling proposals tailored to client needs. Lead negotiations on terms, pricing, and contracts to close deals effectively and ensure client satisfaction.

2. Corporate Governance

  • Adhere to all statutory regulations and internal governance standards.
  • Implement and maintain strong data protection protocols, ensuring client confidentiality and information security.
  • Participate in internal audits and address any identified compliance issues promptly.
  • Keep abreast of changing insurance regulations and underwriting standards, applying them to day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with Kenyan law, insurance industry policies, and company guidelines.

3. People & Culture

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Actively contribute to interdepartmental projects to drive innovation and accountability across the Group.
  • Employee Collaboration Index:
    Engage in a minimum of two internal projects annually with at least an 80% completion success rate. Additionally, participate in at least one Group-wide project each year.

  • Goal-driven and highly motivated to achieve or exceed targets.

Academic Background & Relevant Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Finance, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Professional insurance qualifications such as LOMA, CII, or IIK are an added advantage.
  • 2–3 years of professional experience in a similar role, ideally within the insurance or pensions industry.
