Job Description: Tuktuk Drivers
As a Tuktuk Driver at Gilani’s Distributors Ltd, you will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of goods to our clients across Nakuru and its surrounding areas. The position demands professionalism, reliability, and a strong commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate company-owned tuk-tuks to transport goods and materials to designated delivery points.
- Facilitate the loading and unloading of cargo, ensuring it is properly secured and handled with care.
- Adhere to all transportation laws, local traffic regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly.
- Keep accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, deliveries, and any incidents.
- Maintain open communication with dispatchers and provide real-time updates on delivery progress.
- Follow proper protocols when handling any special or hazardous materials, as necessary.
- Ensure the tuk-tuk remains clean and presentable in accordance with company maintenance policies.
- Offer professional and courteous service to clients and customers, ensuring satisfaction with every delivery.
- Maintain punctuality and complete assigned routes as scheduled.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work beyond regular hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a tuk-tuk driver in a professional or commercial setting.
- Possession of a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) driver’s license, including any necessary endorsements for operating a tuk-tuk.
- A clean driving record, free from major traffic violations or accidents.
- Sound knowledge of traffic rules, road safety protocols, and transportation guidelines.
- Competence in handling and maintaining delivery vehicles, especially tuk-tuks.
- Excellent route planning and navigation skills.
- Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry heavy packages or materials during loading and unloading.
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with customers and company personnel.
- Strong attention to detail, especially when completing delivery documentation and inspection checklists.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and overtime when needed.
- Must possess a K.C.S.E certificate or its equivalent.
