The National Research Fund (NRF) is a State Corporation established under the Science, Technology and Innovation Act, No. 28 of 2013 with the mandate to facilitate research for the advancement of science, technology and innovation. NRF promotes capacity building in research and development, funds scientific research projects, and supports institutions and individuals engaged in scientific and technological innovation.

Principal Information Communications Technology Officer – One (1) Position
Grade: NRF 5

Job Purpose:
The Principal ICT Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining ICT systems that support the Fund’s operations. The position ensures that NRF has efficient, secure and up-to-date ICT infrastructure and systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement ICT strategies and policies to align with the Fund’s overall goals.
- Oversee the planning, acquisition, installation and maintenance of ICT infrastructure.
- Ensure data security, backup and disaster recovery systems are in place and functional.
- Evaluate and recommend ICT solutions to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain and manage software applications and databases used by the Fund.
- Oversee implementation and integration of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Facilitate training and support for users on ICT systems and software.
- Supervise the configuration and management of servers, networks, and storage systems.
- Ensure timely troubleshooting of ICT-related issues and coordinate technical support.
- Lead ICT risk assessments and enforce cybersecurity measures.
- Maintain service level agreements with ICT vendors and monitor performance.
- Monitor ICT developments and recommend relevant upgrades and improvements.
