Medical Officer
Reports To: Medical Officer In-Charge
Job Purpose
The Medical Officer will provide medical consultations, emergency care, and inpatient management. They will collaborate with consultants and allied professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend to emergencies in Accident & Emergency (A&E) and Outpatient departments.
- Support consultants in managing inpatient care.
- Handle direct admissions and conduct preliminary assessments.
- Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews.
- Diagnose and manage patient conditions in line with hospital protocols.
- Conduct community health talks and attend outreach events.
- Contribute to SOP development and weekly Clinical Meetings (CMEs).
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical records.
- Offer patient and family counseling including bereavement support.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
- Valid practicing license
- Certified in BLS and ACLS
Personal Attributes
- Knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical procedures
- Familiarity with common drugs and medical software
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication, empathy, and cultural sensitivity
