Job Purpose
The Quality Inspector ensures the consistent quality of vehicles during assembly by conducting thorough inspections at every stage of the production process. This role focuses on identifying defects, providing immediate feedback, maintaining quality documentation, and implementing corrective actions to support process improvement and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Assembly Quality Control
- Perform in-line inspections at various vehicle assembly stages to verify compliance with OEM specifications and internal quality standards.
- Approve or reject parts and assemblies based on inspection outcomes.
- Identify and record defects, initiating immediate corrective actions where applicable.
2. Documentation Management
- Issue each vehicle’s documentation to the assembly line.
- Ensure assembly technicians accurately complete check sheets and quality records.
- Maintain updated and traceable quality documentation.
3. Inspection Data Collection & Analysis
- Gather and analyze inspection data, including defect rates.
- Identify patterns and root causes of quality issues.
- Maintain organized records of all inspection activities and outcomes.
4. Feedback & Reporting
- Provide real-time quality feedback to assembly teams and supervisors.
- Submit daily defect reports to the Quality Assurance Coordinator and relevant stakeholders.
- Share quality insights and recommend solutions for continuous improvement.
5. Process Improvement
- Propose enhancements to improve quality checks and process efficiency.
- Collaborate with production teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Update and refine inspection checklists to align with evolving standards.
6. Defect Reduction & Root Cause Analysis
- Lead investigations into repetitive or critical defects discovered during end-of-line audits.
- Support root cause analysis (RCA) and monitor corrective action effectiveness.
- Promote adherence to safety and quality compliance throughout the production process.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Certification in quality control (an added advantage).
- Valid driver’s license required.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years in quality inspection within a busy automobile assembly plant.
