That’s why we’re looking for an experienced and proactive Systems & Reliability Manager to join our Engineering & Maintenance team.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the consistent reliability and airworthiness of our aircraft. Position: Systems & Reliability Manager
Job Purpose:
The Systems & Reliability Manager will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and improving the performance and reliability of all aircraft systems and components in Jambojet’s fleet. The role will lead the analysis of technical data and trends, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with aviation safety and regulatory requirements. The position supports operational efficiency by minimizing aircraft downtime and enhancing dispatch reliability through continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Aircraft Systems Management
- Oversee the technical performance of all aircraft systems including airframe, avionics, propulsion, environmental controls, and landing gear.
- Monitor and evaluate aircraft system health and behavior to ensure compliance with manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Act as the subject matter expert for system-related queries, investigations, and decision-making.
- Support maintenance planning by providing recommendations based on system condition trends and failure history.
2. Reliability Program Oversight
- Lead the airline’s reliability program in line with civil aviation regulations and organizational goals.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for aircraft reliability and provide regular reports to senior management.
- Analyze system failures, maintenance delays, and component removals to identify root causes and develop preventive actions.
- Prepare and present monthly reliability performance reports, identifying recurring issues and proposing long-term solutions.
3. Data Analysis and Technical Reporting
- Collect, interpret, and analyze operational and maintenance data to identify negative trends and recommend corrective measures.
- Collaborate with engineering and planning teams to develop data-driven solutions that enhance reliability.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of aircraft technical records, ensuring that they are up-to-date, traceable, and compliant with aviation regulations.
- Prepare technical documentation and summaries to support audits, safety investigations, and regulatory compliance.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with maintenance teams, procurement, quality assurance, and OEMs to implement reliability improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) providers to resolve persistent technical issues.
- Coordinate with flight operations and safety departments to align system performance with operational needs.
- Represent Jambojet at technical meetings and forums on reliability and systems management.
5. Continuous Improvement
- Lead reliability improvement projects and implement corrective actions to reduce technical delays, cancellations, and repeat defects.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency strategies to mitigate technical disruptions.
- Recommend modifications or upgrades to improve the lifespan, performance, or safety of aircraft components.
- Support innovation by evaluating new tools, software, and processes that can enhance system monitoring and predictive maintenance.
6. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure the reliability program complies with Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) regulations, IATA standards, and industry best practices.
- Maintain all required documentation and records in a format acceptable to regulatory bodies.
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, including those by aviation authorities and safety oversight agencies.
- Ensure full implementation of Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), and other technical publications as required.
