Introduction
Zizi Afrique Foundation (ZAF) is a not-for-profit organization that works to improve learning outcomes for children and youth who are furthest behind. Grounded in evidence, policy influence, and practice innovation, ZAF focuses on enhancing the public education system in Kenya through thematic areas such as Values and Life Skills, Whole Child Development, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Technical and Vocational Education, and Parental Engagement and Empowerment.
As ZAF concludes its 2021–2025 strategic phase and begins shaping the 2026–2030 vision, the upcoming Half-Year Staff Retreat on 26th and 27th June 2025 will be pivotal. The retreat offers a space for reflection, strategic alignment, and cultural onboarding for new staff. In this context, ZAF is seeking an experienced and creative Team Building Consultant to design and deliver an engaging, values-driven session that enhances team spirit, interpersonal relationships, and alignment toward common goals.

This assignment is ideal for a professional with demonstrated expertise in designing experiential learning and team engagement activities, particularly within non-profit or mission-driven environments.
Objectives of the Assignment
The overall objective is to design and facilitate a team-building session that energizes, aligns, and connects Zizi Afrique Foundation staff. Specifically, the session should:
- Strengthen interpersonal relationships and communication within the team.
- Reinforce Zizi Afrique’s core values through participatory, reflective, and engaging activities.
- Promote trust, inclusiveness, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging.
- Facilitate the integration of new team members into Zizi’s unique organizational culture.
- Provide a fun, revitalizing experience that motivates the team for the remainder of the year.
- Leave staff energized, inspired, and connected.
Scope of Work
The Consultant will be responsible for:
- Designing a Team Building Program
- Craft a half-day session tailored to Zizi Afrique’s context, team size, and values.
- Incorporate interactive games, group challenges, and creative exercises.
- Ensure content addresses both individual and collective team needs.
- Facilitation and Engagement
- Conduct a pre-retreat consultation with the retreat’s planning committee to align on key expectations and team dynamics.
- Facilitate the session on the afternoon of Friday, 27th June 2025.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, culturally responsive, and suitable for all energy levels.
- Logistical Coordination
- Prepare and transport all materials, props, or tools required for the team building activities.
- Be present at the venue early enough to set up the space and coordinate logistics.
- Reporting
- Submit a 2-3 page post-retreat report by 4th July 2025, summarizing the session activities, observations on team dynamics, and suggested follow-up actions for sustained team cohesion.
