Job Description and Responsibilities
As a Tuktuk Driver at Gilani’s Distributors LTD, your primary duty will be to ensure the timely and safe transportation of goods using company-owned Tuktuks. You will act as a key link between the company and our clients, playing a significant role in maintaining our delivery standards and customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Transportation Duties
- Operate company-owned Tuktuks to deliver goods and materials to specified locations throughout Nakuru and surrounding areas.
- Adhere strictly to assigned routes and scheduled delivery times while allowing for flexibility in case of unexpected obstacles.
- Uphold and follow traffic and transport regulations to ensure safe driving practices at all times.
- Cargo Handling
- Supervise the loading and unloading of cargo to ensure that items are properly secured to prevent damage in transit.
- Physically assist with lifting and arranging packages when necessary to ensure efficiency and safety during deliveries.
- Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Inspections
- Conduct thorough pre-trip checks of the vehicle including brakes, lights, tires, and fluid levels to ensure roadworthiness.
- Carry out post-trip inspections and promptly report any mechanical issues or maintenance requirements to the Transport Manager.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness
- Maintain the cleanliness and good appearance of the vehicle to reflect the professionalism of the company.
- Comply with scheduled maintenance and service routines, reporting malfunctions or servicing needs in a timely manner.
- Record Keeping and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents during trips.
- Ensure that delivery notes, waybills, and receipts are signed and handed over as required.
- Submit completed logs and reports at the end of each working day or week as directed.
- Communication and Coordination
- Maintain constant and clear communication with the dispatch team and customers to update on delivery progress or delays.
- Respond to inquiries from clients in a professional and courteous manner.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team for order collection and delivery sequencing.
- Compliance and Safety
- Abide by company rules, safety procedures, and transport policies.
- Follow protocols in handling goods that may be hazardous or fragile.
- Wear proper safety gear and enforce safety measures while on duty.
- Report any traffic violations, accidents, or incidents immediately to the management.
- Customer Interaction
- Provide excellent service to customers by ensuring punctual deliveries, maintaining a respectful demeanor, and handling goods with care.
- Address any minor customer concerns promptly and escalate unresolved issues to supervisors.
- Flexibility and Availability
- Be willing to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet business demands.

Skills and Experience Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Possession of a valid PSV driver’s license with the appropriate endorsements for operating a commercial Tuktuk.
- At least two years of verifiable experience as a Tuktuk driver in a similar role, preferably in a logistics or distribution environment.
- A clean driving record free of major violations, offenses, or accidents.
- Thorough understanding of Kenyan traffic laws and transportation safety standards.
- Familiarity with Nakuru routes and local navigation techniques, with an ability to optimize delivery routes.
- Physical stamina and the capability to handle manual cargo loading when necessary.
- Professional demeanor, with strong customer service orientation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, solve route challenges, and adhere to deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail when completing paperwork or logging delivery data.
