We are looking for a superstar Music Teacher to deliver high-quality music instruction that aligns with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) while integrating Nova Pioneer’s Inquiry-Based Learning model. The role is designed for educators who can make music come alive in the classroom and beyond.

General Responsibilities

As a Music Teacher at Nova Pioneer, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Creating a secure, welcoming environment for students to thrive musically and socially.
  • Planning and delivering effective daily lessons in alignment with approved curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Incorporating a range of musical activities, including instrumental play, vocal exercises, rhythm games, and creative expression.
  • Facilitating hands-on experiences with various music tools and resources to stimulate student engagement and curiosity.
  • Monitoring the care and use of music equipment and instruments to ensure safety and longevity.
  • Designing and leading creative classroom and outdoor activities that enhance motor skills, group collaboration, and musical development.
  • Observing and documenting each student’s progress, providing consistent updates to the Principal and parents.
  • Adapting teaching methods to suit the diverse learning needs and interests of individual students and groups.
  • Supporting students’ smooth integration into school life through morning greetings, activity selection, and personalized interactions.
  • Upholding and enforcing classroom management policies to maintain discipline and an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Participating in regular training workshops, meetings, and professional development to continuously improve instructional effectiveness.
  • Assisting with day-to-day school operations, including supervising meals, coordinating bathroom breaks, monitoring transport routines, and supporting playtime.
  • Keeping accurate, up-to-date professional records such as rubrics, work logs, and student portfolios.
  • Leading or supporting after-school clubs, particularly those related to the arts.
  • Promoting character development and supporting behavioral guidance practices in line with Nova Pioneer’s philosophy.

Music Teacher Specific Duties

In addition to the general teaching responsibilities, the Music Teacher at Tatu Primary School will take on role-specific tasks, including:

  • Administering music lessons under the Nova Pioneer instructional model, aligned with CBC requirements.
  • Coordinating all music-related programs, activities, and events across the school.
  • Preparing comprehensive Schemes of Work and lesson plans tailored to various stages of musical development.
  • Conducting individual and group music lessons, typically lasting between 30–45 minutes, covering instrumental technique, music theory, and ear training.
  • Collaborating with music teachers from other Nova Pioneer campuses to align and enhance music instruction.
  • Setting themes and curating content for school-wide musical activities, concerts, and performance programs.
  • Teaching students at different levels, tailoring lessons to their current abilities and future potential.
  • Organizing examination schedules and preparing students for music certifications and external evaluations.
  • Continuously enhancing your own music teaching repertoire and staying informed about best practices in music education.
  • Engaging with students, parents, and other stakeholders to communicate progress and receive feedback.
  • Preparing students for public performances, music festivals, and school concerts.
  • Coordinating the school’s annual music concert, ensuring participation, preparation, and production excellence.
  • Managing and maintaining the inventory of musical instruments, scores, and teaching aids.
  • Coaching assistant teachers or teammates who support the delivery of music lessons.

Candidate Profile

  • TSC certification and a degree in Music.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in music education.
  • Proficiency in delivering clear, engaging instruction and communication in both written and verbal forms.
