We are currently seeking a Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist to join our Finance Advisory Services (FAS) team in Nairobi, Kenya. About the Role
The Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist will be an integral part of the Finance Advisory Services (FAS) team—a global and in-country function that acts as a trusted financial advisor to leadership. The FAS team is responsible for organizational budgeting, strategic planning, long-term financial sustainability, and high-level financial reporting.
This role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and offers a hybrid work arrangement. The Specialist will report directly to the Global Financial Advisory Services Senior Associate.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create Reports, Models, and Manage Data
- Financial Modeling:
Develop and maintain detailed financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning initiatives. These models will inform strategic decisions by simulating different financial scenarios and their implications on the organization’s sustainability and goals. - Data Analysis and Business Intelligence:
Build insightful and actionable reports using Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as SQL and visualization dashboards. Analyze financial and operational datasets to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for cost efficiency and revenue growth. - System Implementation Support:
Collaborate in the design and implementation of planning systems and digital tools that automate and streamline data aggregation, analysis, and reporting processes. Provide technical support to cross-functional teams to ensure accurate data capture and alignment with financial objectives.
2. Support the Reporting Process
- Reporting Calendar and Communication Management:
Help develop and maintain reporting calendars, schedule stakeholder calls, and coordinate cross-team updates to ensure timely dissemination of key financial information. - Preparation of Periodic Reports:
Assist in preparing periodic performance and financial reports including quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders. Ensure these reports are comprehensive, accurate, and aligned with the organization’s reporting standards. - Workflow Optimization:
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the reporting function. Identify process bottlenecks and develop new workflows to improve accuracy, reduce preparation time, and enhance report usability.
3. Support Financial Planning
- Annual Budgeting Process:
Play a critical role in the annual budgeting cycle by compiling data, liaising with department leads, and ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. Facilitate budget planning meetings and consolidate inputs to create a unified budget document. - Five-Year Financial Projections:
Support the creation of multi-year financial projections. Use financial models to assess different growth and funding scenarios, enabling leadership to make informed long-term investment decisions. - Board and Lender Reporting:
Assist in the development of financial content and presentations for Board of Directors and lenders. Contribute to the creation of detailed budget packs that explain variances, forecast changes, and key financial risks or opportunities.

Qualifications
While One Acre Fund considers a range of general qualifications for all roles, specific expectations for the Financial Planning and Reporting Analytics Specialist include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in consulting, finance, or financial analysis
- Proficiency in financial modeling and use of advanced Excel functions
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and programming languages such as R, Python, or DAX
- Experience working with BI tools and managing databases using SQL
