The Embassy of Greece in Nairobi invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of General Clerk. This is a full-time position with a fixed-term contract of two years.   • Monthly Gross Remuneration: 330 Euros

The monthly remuneration will be paid in accordance with the Embassy’s financial and payroll guidelines. All applicable deductions, including those related to social insurance, will be handled in line with the relevant labor laws.

General Responsibilities

While specific tasks may be assigned upon hiring, the position of General Clerk generally involves a wide range of activities. The candidate will be expected to perform duties that facilitate the functions of the Embassy and contribute to maintaining smooth operations.

The responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supporting general office operations and offering assistance across departments where required
  • Participating in day-to-day administrative and support functions of the Embassy
  • Handling routine tasks related to office management, organization, and documentation
  • Providing support with communication, scheduling, and coordination of Embassy-related activities
  • Offering assistance in the preparation and maintenance of documents, records, or files
  • Responding to internal or external inquiries under the supervision of Embassy officials
  • Assisting with logistical or operational arrangements as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned in line with the operational needs of the Embassy

The successful candidate should be able to handle general office tasks with attention to detail, confidentiality, and a commitment to professionalism. The ability to prioritize work and respond to varying demands will be essential.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application:

  • Must be a legal resident of Kenya
  • Must possess Greek citizenship or any other nationality legally recognized by the Republic of Kenya
  • Greek male applicants must provide proof of completed compulsory military service or official exemption
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old and not older than 60 years
  • Must have very good computer skills, including familiarity with basic office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, email tools)
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili, both written and spoken, is required
  • Knowledge of the Greek language will be regarded as an asset during the selection process
  • Must be willing and available to work overtime or outside standard working hours if necessary
  • Previous experience in a similar administrative, clerical, or support role will be considered an advantage and should be documented with references
  • A valid Certificate of Good Conduct or equivalent criminal background clearance from the applicant’s country of residence is required

Terms of Employment and Social Insurance Provisions

The conditions of employment are determined by the candidate’s nationality and applicable legislation. These terms are in line with standard diplomatic employment practices and ensure fair coverage under social security regulations.

  • Greek nationals employed in this position may request to be subject to the Greek social insurance legislation. The necessary registration and procedural steps will be facilitated by the Embassy following the candidate’s written application.
  • Non-Greek nationals will be subject to the Kenyan social insurance system, as stipulated under national labor law.
  • In all cases, the employer’s contributions to the social insurance scheme will be covered by the Greek State. The employee’s portion, where applicable, will be deducted from the gross salary.
