Job Overview
Premier Hospital seeks a Medical Officer to strengthen its clinical team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive care in both the Outpatient and Inpatient departments and manage emergencies in the Accident & Emergency (A&E) unit. Coordination with specialists and participation in hospital-wide training and outreach is a key part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to medical emergencies in A&E and Outpatient units.
- Manage and monitor inpatient cases, often in consultation with specialists.
- Admit and stabilize patients as needed.
- Conduct mortality and morbidity audits and follow treatment protocols.
- Participate in:
- Weekly CME sessions (Continuing Medical Education)
- Health talks and community outreach
- Development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Maintain comprehensive patient records.
- Provide patient and family counseling, including during bereavement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent)
- Registered with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC)
- Hold a valid practicing license
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Skills and Competencies
- Strong grasp of anatomy, pharmacology, and physiology
- Computer literate
- Knowledgeable about locally available drugs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Team-oriented, culturally sensitive, and patient-focused
- Comfortable working night shifts, holidays, and on-call duties
- Keen on professional development and up-to-date clinical practices
- Possess strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
