The Global Corporate Solutions (GCS) department plays a pivotal role in enabling the WBG to deliver on its mission. GCS includes Corporate Security, Real Estate & Facilities, and Corporate Services, which collectively ensure the smooth and secure operation of the institution’s global infrastructure. Within this structure, the Corporate Security division (GCSSC) is tasked with managing strategic security efforts that empower WBG staff to operate safely in a wide array of environments.

As a Security Operations Associate (Training), you will be a vital member of GCSSC’s Training Team, responsible for the development and delivery of a broad spectrum of security awareness programs for World Bank Group staff. You will support the WBG’s operational readiness by equipping staff with the tools, knowledge, and practical skills needed to navigate various security environments across the globe.

About the Corporate Security Division

Corporate Security (GCSSC) is an essential component of the World Bank Group’s Global Corporate Solutions Department. Its core mission is to safeguard the organization’s global operations by applying strategic risk mitigation measures. With staff based at the WBG headquarters in Washington, D.C., and in over 130 offices worldwide, the division offers expertise and support across regions. GCSSC works in close coordination with the United Nations Security Management System and maintains key relationships with peer institutions such as the IMF, African Development Bank, and Inter-American Development Bank.

This position reports directly to the Senior Security Specialist (Strategic Training and Preparedness). As a Security Operations Associate (Training), you will contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of learning initiatives that promote personal safety, security awareness, and emergency preparedness among WBG personnel. Your work will support the organization’s broader objective of maintaining operational resilience across all regions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Training and Awareness Delivery

The associate will be primarily responsible for the development and delivery of training programs that enhance the security preparedness of WBG staff across all regions, with a focus on Africa. Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and researching appropriate training methodologies to inform the creation of impactful learning programs.
  • Supporting the development and delivery of routine and advanced training modules in alignment with the Training Team’s broader outreach strategy.
  • Collaborating with other trainers to plan, schedule, and deliver security-focused learning sessions.
  • Organizing training events and modules based on organizational needs and evolving security concerns.
  • Updating and maintaining security learning resources and online content repositories.

Program Management and Evaluation

  • Supporting the continuous improvement of training initiatives by conducting analysis of current activities and recommending improvements based on impact assessments and participant feedback.
  • Monitoring training program effectiveness and contributing to reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitating feedback mechanisms to ensure training remains relevant and responsive to emerging risks.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Building partnerships with internal units and external partners to support the seamless delivery of learning activities.
  • Coordinating cross-functional training events such as safety awareness sessions, specialized workshops, and conferences.
  • Assisting in the marketing and communication of training programs via internal platforms, including social media, newsletters, videos, and posters.

Knowledge Management

  • Assisting in the organization and dissemination of knowledge resources to staff across different offices and regions.
  • Supporting the development of the Corporate Security’s OLC (Open Learning Campus) catalog and learning entries.
  • Providing strategic updates to the unit on program effectiveness, key achievements, and areas requiring improvement.

Position Requirements

Educational and Professional Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience in instructional design, learning development, international relations, national security, or related fields.
  • Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with four years of qualifying experience may be considered.

Core Competencies and Experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing training programs including content development, scheduling, delivery, and feedback integration.
  • Familiarity with knowledge management techniques and the ability to synthesize information from various sources.
  • High proficiency in common office applications and relevant design or learning software tools.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in French is highly preferred.
  • Experience in UN, WBG, or diplomatic security operations is advantageous.

Technical and Specialized Skills

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with a focus on timely and high-quality execution.
  • Proficiency in using communication technologies and learning platforms to enhance training delivery.
  • Experience with platforms such as SharePoint, video editing tools, and learning management systems is desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments, promoting collaboration and inclusivity.
  • Skilled in program evaluation and using data to drive improvements in training programs.
