Job Overview

As an Assistant Warehouse Manager, your role is central to ensuring that warehouse operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will provide support to the National Warehouse Manager by managing day-to-day operations in the assigned branch. You will supervise teams, ensure inventory accuracy, manage logistics coordination, and implement warehouse safety and efficiency protocols.

This position requires a hands-on leader with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage diverse teams across dynamic and fast-paced environments.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Supervision of Warehouse Personnel
    • Directly oversee and coordinate the work of warehouse staff including loaders, packers, clerks, and assistants.
    • Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure that assignments are completed in accordance with company procedures.
    • Monitor team performance and offer regular feedback to enhance productivity and morale.
  2. Inventory Control and Record-Keeping
    • Maintain accurate inventory logs using modern inventory management systems.
    • Conduct regular inventory audits and stock counts to reconcile physical stock with records.
    • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock records.
  3. Inbound Shipment Management
    • Supervise the receiving process of all incoming goods.
    • Ensure shipments are properly inspected for quality and quantity before acceptance.
    • Confirm that items are correctly recorded into the system and allocated to the appropriate storage locations.
  4. Outbound Logistics Coordination
    • Oversee the picking, packing, and loading processes for outgoing shipments.
    • Work closely with dispatch teams to ensure that deliveries are made on time and in full.
    • Ensure accuracy in order fulfillment and maintain high service levels.
  5. Warehouse Layout and Efficiency Optimization
    • Evaluate and adjust the layout of storage areas to optimize space usage and access efficiency.
    • Identify opportunities for streamlining workflow to reduce handling time and errors.
  6. Health and Safety Management
    • Implement and enforce occupational health and safety procedures.
    • Ensure staff use appropriate safety equipment and adhere to company safety policies.
    • Conduct regular safety drills and warehouse inspections.
  7. Staff Training and Development
    • Organize and conduct training sessions for new and existing warehouse personnel.
    • Introduce staff to updated equipment, systems, and best practices in warehouse operations.
    • Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  8. Performance Monitoring and Reporting
    • Monitor key warehouse performance indicators such as turnaround time, order accuracy, and operational efficiency.
    • Analyze performance data and prepare regular reports for senior management.
    • Recommend process improvements based on data-driven insights.
  9. Cross-Departmental Collaboration
    • Liaise with procurement, production, and customer service departments to ensure a coordinated workflow.
    • Participate in planning meetings to align warehouse operations with company objectives.
  10. Warehouse Equipment Management
  • Ensure all warehouse equipment, including forklifts and conveyors, are regularly maintained.
  • Schedule and supervise repair work and monitor equipment performance.
  1. Documentation and Compliance
  • Maintain organized records of stock movement, dispatches, returns, and other warehouse activities.
  • Ensure that operations are in compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards.

Required Skills and Expertise

  • Diploma in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is essential.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial warehouse role.
  • Proven knowledge of inventory software systems and modern warehouse practices.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in high-volume environments.

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced logistics and distribution setting.
  • Physical involvement in warehouse activities as needed.
  • Dynamic interdepartmental communication and coordination.

Locations and Mobility
