Data Standards and FAIR Implementation Officer

APHRC is seeking to recruit a Data Standards and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) Implementation Officer to provide leadership in the conceptualization, design, documentation, and deployment of data and metadata models that align with best practices in research data management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain standard data models and metadata workflows that support data harmonization across APHRC’s research domains.
- Lead the implementation of FAIR data principles within the Data Science Program and across APHRC’s broader research network.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure that data and metadata standards are in line with evolving global frameworks and technologies.
- Create, maintain, and disseminate documentation that outlines standards, schemas, and protocols for data structuring, labeling, and interoperability.
- Support capacity building for research staff on best practices for data management and the use of standardized metadata systems.
- Conduct audits and reviews of existing data systems to ensure compliance with data governance and stewardship principles.
- Promote open science and data-sharing initiatives by contributing to the development of APIs and tools that facilitate access to APHRC’s data assets.
- Assist in the development of technical proposals and contribute to scholarly outputs focused on data management and standardization.
